How to use a lead stick?
Content
The boss stick is the most commonly used stick to work with the leader. As the name suggests, it is used to hold sheet metal in place. Barrel sticks are commonly used to form inside and outside corners.
Inner Corner Alignment
Step 1 - Fix the inner cornerUse a hammer to support the inside corner. You will use your handle to shape the outer shape of the lead. The first blows with a mallet should be directed inward to stiffen the inner corner.
Step 2 - StrikeCapturing the inner corner means losing the lead. The direction in which the handle strikes will determine the direction of its movement. Hit the leash upwards from the bottom of the corner to gradually lead it to the top edge.
Step 3 - Remove Excess LeadYou will find that you have excess lead at the top of the corner. Cut off this excess wire with scissors.
Outside Corner Alignment
Step 1 - Positioning the Lead SheetAfter the fold lines of the collar have been created with a setting stick or bandaging stick, attach the leash to the structure around which it will be formed. Bend the leash along the fold lines so that it is roughly in place.
Step 2 - Hit the lead with the boss stick.Strike with your stick all over the area, first concentrating on the new angle being formed. Pointing the lead towards the corner will help it maintain the same thickness and prevent it from splitting where it stretches.
Step 3 - Working lead from the cornerAfter you have formed the outer corner, gradually move the lead towards the edge (down in this case) to smooth out the material covering the entire area.
Step 4 - Trim Excess LeadYou will know if your bosses have been successful if you see that excess leadership is gradually moving away from the corner. As with the inside corner, excess lead should be removed with metal shears. You may also need to trim the wire to keep the edges smooth and tidy.
