How to use a cable winch?

ExpandingFully pull the ratchet pawl to the down position. To unwind the rope, turn the crank handle counterclockwise. | |
Winding inMove the ratchet pawl forward to the up position. To wind the cable, turn the crank handle clockwise. | |
OpeningTo put the winch in neutral, set the ratchet pawl to the position shown in the illustration. This will allow the winch to rotate freely in any direction. | |

Step 1 - Install the Ratchet SwitchSet the ratchet pawl to the down position. | |
Step 2 - Unwind the cableTurn the handle counterclockwise to unwind the required amount of cable. | |
Step 3 - Attach the hookAttach the hook to the load. | |
Step 4 - Install the Ratchet SwitchSlide the ratchet pawl all the way forward to the top position. | |
Step 5 - Winding the CableTurn the handle clockwise to wind the rope and pull the load. | |
Step 6 - Release the LoadTo relieve the load, move the ratchet pawl from the up position to the down position. | |
Step 7 - Hold the handleHold the crank handle during this process to prevent the load from moving. Release the handle slowly, making sure the ratchet pawl is engaged before releasing it completely. | |
Step 8 - Release the CrankOnce the load is in this position, it can be slowly released one ratchet at a time. |
