How to use a rivet?
Content
To use a rivet, you need to have the correct size nozzle to fit the rivets you are installing.
Step 1 - Insert the rivetOpen the riveter handles and place the rivet mandrel into the nozzle.
The mandrel is a long rod cut through the body of the rivet. It is inserted into the rivet when the rivet is fastened. The riveter pulls the mandrel through the body of the rivet, expanding the pin and then breaking off the mandrel.
Step 2 - Slotted RivetInsert the body of the rivet into the hole drilled in the material to be fastened. Gently press the rivet against the material to ensure that the rivet is fully inserted.
Step 3 – Squeeze the HandlesSqueeze the handles with one or two hands, depending on the type of riveter you are using. Squeeze the handles as close together as possible. This will create a second head to hold the rivet in place and pull the excess mandrel out of the rivet.
If you are using a two-handed riveter, grasp the handles with both hands.
Step 4 - Complete the installationAfter fixing the rivets at both ends and fixing the material, the installation is complete. |
