How to use the earth moving machine?
Content
Choosing the right size and weight
The length of the handle should be almost the same as your height to avoid stress on your back. The weight will largely depend on the size of the rammer head. A larger head is more useful when ramming a large area of soil and will weigh more than a smaller rammer head.
Step 1 - Find a comfortable positionStand with the rammer in front of you, holding the handle with both hands. Make sure you stand with a straight back to avoid strain.
Step 2 - Raise and lower the rammerRaise the rammer one or two feet off the ground before letting the tool fall to the ground, squeezing the ground. When you throw the rammer, keep the handle loose to prevent the rammer from kicking to the side. Then this movement is repeated in the same place until the materials are compacted.
Manual earth rammers are fairly light and easy to use by one person, making them preferred over mechanical rammers for smaller projects.
How do you know that earth tamping is complete?
Once the ground is fully compacted, the rammer will make a "ping" sound as it hits the compacted ground.
Is user fatigue a problem when using an earth rammer?
This can be especially true when using a manual rammer, so for larger projects a mechanical rammer may be used to prevent user fatigue. Otherwise, it is recommended to take breaks between tamping each layer of your project. Alternatively, an impact-resistant hand rammer may relieve some of the user's fatigue. |
