How to get a Ford Bronco in Australia (sort of).

Chinese brand Chery may be using the just-unveiled Jetour TX as its launch halo in Australia, and the Ford Bronco SUV has just been unveiled in China.

The small but rugged SUV may seem a bit familiar, and the popular Ford Bronco is clearly inspiring in its design and ethos.

But unlike the Ford Bronco, the Chery Jetour TX actually has a chance to come to Australia as the brand is currently touting a number of positions in that market, pointing to a relaunch of the company this year or next.

This will be the second time Chery has been offered Down Under (previously the brand was here with cut-price city cars that didn't evoke emotion or sales), but the brand will be hoping things do a little better this time around, with cars like Jetour TX is in the lead.

Details are scarce yet, but the TX is expected to be offered with a range of engines, including a hybrid that will provide a total range of 1000 km. The new model will be officially unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show in April and will go on sale in late 2022 or early 2023.

However, for now, we only know what we see, including dual escape hooks, massive All Terrain tires, and customizable roof storage. Of course, an all-wheel drive system is a prerequisite, as are mechanical differential locks.

More information will be revealed ahead of Beijing as China is clearly looking to enter the SUV market, so keep an eye on that space.
