How to get a Mercedes-Benz dealer certificate

To meet the ever-increasing demand for certified automotive technicians, Mercedes-Benz had to expand its training opportunities. Today, you can get a job as an automotive technician to repair and maintain Mercedes-Benz vehicles, as well as get a Mercedes-Benz dealer certification in several ways. One is through one of the two auto mechanic schools partnered with Mercedes, and the other is through a partnership with UTI. Any of these paths will get you started with this prestigious, high quality brand.

MBUSI technical program

The Mercedes Benz Automotive Systems engineering program, launched only in 2012, relies on the University of West Alabama and Shelton State Community College to provide students with the training they need to work in automotive diagnostics and repair. While this also prepares students for assembly line work, the training also allows them to get jobs as mechanics repairing Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

The training will provide:

  • Six trimesters of study at one of two schools
  • Working at the Mercedes factory every week
  • Opportunity to work directly with Mercedes Benz after graduation
  • Earning while studying, as students are paid for the hours they work in the factory.

Mercedes Benz ELITE programs

Mercedes Benz is also partnering with UTI to offer two unique ways for students to earn their Mercedes Benz Dealer Certification.

The first is the ELITE START program, upon completion of which the student receives the status of a qualified technician after six months of work in a dealership. This is a 12-week student-funded program that will provide the student with focused training in the procedures and operations most commonly used by dealerships in the repair and maintenance of light vehicles.

Courses cover:

*Getting to know Mercedes-Benz *Chassis electronics *Dynamics and comfort control systems *Engine management and pre-sale check

The second program is the Mercedes Benz DRIVE program, designed for those who already work in a dealership but want to improve their skills. This is a manufacturer-sponsored training program and is only open to those with proven skills and qualifications.

This training will be based on hands-on workshops and workshop exercises that will enable technicians to diagnose and repair these high quality vehicles. Research includes:

*Introduction to Mercedes-Benz *Basic Diagnostic Strategies *Brakes and Traction *Career Development *Climate Control *Dismantling *Electrical Equipment *Engine Management Systems *Service/Maintenance *Suspension *Telematics

Upon completion of the training, the student is provided with a systems technician after six months of work in the dealership.

If you already have some experience as a technician or are interested in one of the automotive technician positions made possible by the Mercedes-Benz Dealer Certification, you have several options.

Regardless of the path you take to become one of the in-demand auto technicians at a Mercedes-Benz dealership or service center, your auto mechanic training will be of immense value. You can use the knowledge you already have or use the services of one of the partner schools to start learning the skills required for any Mercedes-Benz dealership.
