How to Get the A6 ASE Study Guide and Practice Test

In a career as a mechanic, it doesn't take long to realize that often the best automotive technician jobs go to those who are ASE certified. There is no reason why you shouldn't enjoy the same advantage by making yourself more attractive to employers and potentially earning higher wages. In addition, you will receive confirmation of the experience gained during the training of automotive technicians.

The National Automotive Institute of Excellence conducts trials in more than 40 areas of automotive diagnostics, service, and repair. The A series certification, or certification for cars and light trucks, consists of nine sections: A1-A9. You must pass A1 - A8 to become a Master Auto Technician. Part A6 deals with electrical/electronic systems.

Preparing for the A6 ASE test will give you the best chance of passing, avoiding the need to spend more time studying and re-paying for testing.

Site ACE

NIASE provides a comprehensive website with information on all aspects of testing, from finding a location to test preparation and advice. They provide free tutorials for each level of certification, available as PDF links on the Test Prep & Training page. Don't forget to take advantage of this rich resource of A6 ASE preparation materials.

Practice tests are also available for each exam topic; however, you will have to pay for it. The first two are paid at a rate of $14.95 each. If you want to take between three and 24 practice tests, they will cost you $12.95 each. 25 and up are $11.95 each.

You can access the A6 practice test or any other through the voucher system. You buy voucher codes and then apply them to any tests you choose. There is only one test version per topic, so using additional test vouchers will not result in a different version.

Third Party Sites

When you are looking for ways to get the A6 ASE study guide and practice test, you will come across other websites that offer a variety of preparation materials and services. NIASE recommends taking a varied approach to exam preparation, however you should be careful when researching the company you plan to use to make sure they are reliable. While the organization does not evaluate or endorse any specific aftersales training option, it maintains a list of companies on its website.

Passing the test

Once you feel like you've learned enough, it's time to schedule your big day for the A6 exam. NIASE provides information about the time and place of the test and allows you to schedule the test to be taken at a convenient time for you - all year round, even on weekends. Written ASE testing is no longer offered - all exams are conducted on a computer in a controlled room. A demo is available on the ASE website to get familiar with the format.

The A6 Electrical/Electronic Systems exam contains 45 multiple-choice questions plus 10 or more additional questions used for statistical purposes. You won't have any prior knowledge of which questions count in your score and which don't, so it's best to try to answer each one to the best of your ability.

The ASE certification allows you to put to good use everything you learned in automotive engineering school, improving your resume and increasing your earning potential throughout your mechanic career. There are many resources available to help you achieve this goal.
