How to get a driver's license in Florida

Florida was the very first state to adopt the popular certified driver's license program that most states follow today. The state requires those under the age of 18 to obtain a learner's permit, which gradually develops into a full license as the driver gains experience and age. To get a driver's license, you need to follow certain steps. Here is a simple guide to getting the right driver's license in Florida:

Student permission

In order to obtain permission to study in Florida, there are several requirements that a resident must meet. They must be at least 15 years old. They must complete a traffic and substance abuse training course, which can take place in a classroom or online.

When driving with a learner's license, the driver must comply with certain laws. They may only drive during the day during the first three months of holding the permit. After the first three months, they must only drive until 10:21. All driving must be supervised by a licensed driver who is at least 50 years of age and must remain in the front passenger seat. This person must certify that the driver has completed at least XNUMX hours of driving practice under their supervision.

In order to obtain a student's permit, Florida requires prospective drivers to bring several required legal documents to the exam; obtain a parental consent form; pass a written exam and an eye test; provide confirmation of the completion of the driver training program; and pay the required fee of $48.

Required documents

When you arrive at the Florida DMV for your driver's license exam, you must bring the following legal documents:

  • Proof of address, such as a bank statement or Florida vehicle registration, from a parent or guardian.

  • Proof of identity, such as a birth certificate, a valid U.S. passport, or a certificate of naturalization.

  • One proof of Social Security number, such as a Social Security card or Form W-2.

Exam

There are two ways to take the Florida Permit Exam. If a driver has completed an approved online driver training course, they can take the written exam online. If the driver passes this test, the driver will be required to bring the required documents and payment to the nearest DMV office. Drivers can also take the exam in person at the DMV office.

The Florida Student Licensure Exam consists of 50 questions about state traffic rules, safe driving rules, and traffic signs. The Florida Driving Guide contains all the information a student needs to pass the exam. To get more practice, there is an online exam. Drivers must answer 40 questions correctly in order to pass the exam.

Once you have passed your permit exam, which is charged $40 in cash, check or credit card, the driver must pass a vision test.
