How to change antifreeze for a Hyundai Getz

Antifreeze refers to the process fluids of a car, which is subject to periodic replacement. This is not a difficult operation; everyone can replace it with a Hyundai Getz with certain skills and knowledge.

Stages of replacing the coolant Hyundai Getz

2. The drain plug at Getz often breaks, so there is another drain option. To do this, remove the lower radiator pipe (Fig. 2).

3. We open the radiator and expansion tank caps, and there we provide air supply to them. Thus, the antifreeze will begin to merge more intensively.
4. To remove fluid from the expansion tank, you can use a rubber bulb or syringe.
5. Since there is no drain plug on the engine, it is necessary to drain the antifreeze from the tube connecting it (Fig. 3). For better access to this hose, you can disconnect the cables connected to the male-female connector.

The most difficult task is the removal and installation of clamps without special tools. Therefore, many advise changing them to a conventional type worm. But it is better to buy a special extractor, which is not expensive. You will save a lot of time by replacing now and in the future.

So, in this model, you can completely drain the antifreeze as far as possible. But it should be understood that part of it will still remain in the channels of the block.

Flushing the cooling system

To flush the cooling system from heavy deposits, special flushes based on chemical components are used. With a normal replacement, this is not necessary, you just need to flush the old antifreeze from the system. Therefore, we will use ordinary distilled water.

To do this, install the pipes in their places, fix them with clamps, check if the drainage holes are closed. We fill the expansion tank to the strip with the letter F, after which we pour water into the radiator, up to the neck. We twist the caps and start the engine.

Wait until the engine has warmed up to operating temperature. When the thermostat opens, water will flow through the large circuit, flushing the entire system. After that, turn off the car, wait until it cools down and drains.

We repeat these steps several times. A good result is when the color of the drained water is transparent.

Filling without air pockets

Using ready-made antifreeze for filling, you need to understand that after washing, there is a residue of distilled water that does not drain into the system. Therefore, for Hyundai Getz, it is better to use a concentrate and dilute it with this residue. Usually about 1,5 liters remain unspilled.

It is necessary to fill in new antifreeze in the same way as distilled water when flushing. First, into the expansion tank to the F mark, then into the radiator to the top of the neck. At the same time, the upper and lower thick tubes leading to it can be squeezed by hand. After filling, we twist the plugs into the filler necks.

We begin to heat, periodically gasify it, to accelerate the heating and the rate of circulation of the liquid. After fully warming up, the stove should expel hot air, and both pipes going to the radiator should warm up evenly. This suggests that we did everything right and we did not have an air chamber.

After warming up, turn off the engine, wait until it cools down and check the level. If necessary, top up the radiator to the top and into the tank between the letters L and F.

Frequency of replacement, which antifreeze to fill

Previously, according to the regulations, the first replacement had to be carried out at a mileage of 45 kilometers. Subsequent replacements must be made taking into account the antifreeze used. This information must be indicated on the product packaging.

For Hyundai vehicles, it is recommended to use original antifreeze that meets the Hyundai / Kia MS 591-08 specification. It is produced by Kukdong as a concentrate called Hyundai Long Life Coolant.

It is best to choose a green bottle with a yellow label, this is a modern liquid phosphate-carboxylate P-OAT. Designed for a 10-year shelf life, order numbers 07100-00220 (2 sheets), 07100-00420 (4 sheets.).

Our most popular antifreeze in a silver bottle with a green label has a 2 year expiration date and is considered obsolete. Manufactured using silicate technology, but also has all the approvals, 07100-00200 (2 sheets), 07100-00400 (4 sheets.).

Both antifreezes have the same green color, which, as you know, does not affect the properties, but is used only as a dye. Their chemical composition, additives and technologies are different, so mixing is not recommended.

You can also pour TECHNOFORM products. This is LLC "Crown" A-110, which is poured into Hyundai cars at the plant. Or its complete analogue Coolstream A-110, produced for retail sale. They are produced in Russia under license from Kukdong and also have all the necessary approvals.

Leaks and problems
