How to increase resale value

Keeping your car in good condition is the easiest way to increase its resale value.

The best way to protect your new car in the future, or keep your used car buying experience efficient, is to keep it in good condition and behave safely on the show floor.

For starters, avoid flashy or trendy colors, especially on prestige and luxury cars.

Instead of paying extra for additional equipment, go straight to the next model in the line. And if you can't resist ticking off luxury, opt for what a used car buyer might see - alloy wheels, spoilers or a sunroof - instead of things tucked away in the cabin.

Glass management says the fundamentals are simple and therefore retain value over time.

“Keep your car in good condition with up-to-date service books and avoid long kilometers,” says Santo Amoddio.

"Running more than 30,000 km per year for a large car or SUV or 20,000 km for a small, sports or prestige car is undesirable."
