- Installing the mobile dust extractor
Step 1 - Turn off the machine
Turn off the power and unplug the machine from the mains.
Step 2 - Remove the disc
To install the mortar rake starter kit on your angle grinder, you first need to remove the disc mounted on your angle grinder.
To remove the disc, turn the power tool upside down and place it on its back.Step 3 - Loosen the lock nut
Use a lock nut wrench to unscrew/loosen the lock nut.
Step 4 - Remove the lock nut
Once this is loosened, remove the lock nut.
Step 5 - Remove the multidisk
Now the lock nut is removed, you can remove the concave center grinding wheel/multi-disc.
Step 6 - Remove Inner Flange
After that, the inner flange can be removed.
Now you only have the spindle on the bearing housing and the guard that you will need to remove.Never use the disc in an angle grinder without the guard!
Your angle grinder will then be disassembled and you will be left with an exposed spindle.Do I need an adapter?
You can buy mortar tines that fit directly on the angle grinder spindle or that need to be inserted into an adapter before screwing onto the spindle.Installing the adapter
Step 1 - Attach the Adapter
The mortar rake adapter attaches directly to the spindle.
Screw the adapter onto the spindle with a wrench to tighten it.
Once you have screwed the adapter onto the spindle, insert the tine arm into the adapter and turn to tighten.
Fastening mortar rakes directly to the spindle
If the mortar tine is designed to be mounted directly on the spindle, simply screw it in by hand and then tighten with a wrench.Installing the shovel starter kit
Step 1 - Insert the aluminum ring
Slide the adapter/aluminum ring onto the neck of the wheel guard collar.
Step 2 - Push the ring down
Place the ring on the protective ring of the angle grinder.
Step 3 - Press the sole down
After making sure it fits snugly, slide the sole down over the aluminum ring.
Rotate the sole on the aluminum ring until it is properly seated. You can secure the sole to the aluminum ring with a hex wrench - most mortar rake starter kits have one of these.Setting the raking depth
The sole allows you to set the depth to which you will rake. Some soles are already pre-set for raking distance, although most of them allow you to adjust the depth yourself!
It is recommended to set the depth of the sole before installing it on the angle grinder. To do this, follow the instructions on the starter kit.
If you want to check the depth of the soleplate after it has been installed on the angle grinder, measure the distance between the tip of the grout rake and the flat square base of the soleplate. This distance indicates the maximum distance you will be laying.
Installing the mobile dust extractor
After attaching the soleplate, insert the exhaust pipe into the dust extractor. It is put on the top of the exhaust pipe.A dust extractor is a form of industrial vacuum cleaner designed specifically to remove dust and debris from construction work.Once all of this is set up, you're ready to turn on the tool!Remember, depending on the type of mortar rake you are using, you may need to make an initial hole in the mortar into which you can guide the mortar rake.Other types of mortar rakes allow milling directly in the mortar. These mortar rakes typically have a steel body and a tungsten carbide or hard tungsten carbide coating and are larger in diameter than longer mortar rakes. They often have a tip designed to cut straight into the solution.
