How to apply a custom sticker on the dashboard

Sometimes the dashboards that come with your car can feel bland and uninteresting. Personalized dashboard decal kits are a great option for you if you want to temporarily give your interior a new style. This guide will show you how to apply vinyl decals to your dashboard to give your car a whole new look.

Part 1 of 3: Preparing for Installation

Necessary materials

  • Clean microfiber towel

  • Personalized Dashboard Sticker Set
  • Dashboard cleaner
  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • water
  • Wax or grease remover

Step 1. Get your favorite dashboard sticker kit.. Use a search engine to do an online search for "dashboard stickers".

When you find a website that offers the products you like, search the website for the make, model, and year of your vehicle.

There are many types of dashboard stickers available, ranging from wood and metal to bright colors and carbon fiber.

Choose the product you like the most, buy it, and keep it handy before moving on to the next steps in this article.

  • AttentionA: Although it is possible, it is unlikely that you will find a special set of stickers specifically designed for your vehicle at your local auto shop. An internet search will give you the widest selection of options.

Step 2: Clean and Prepare the Control Panel. To begin, clean the interior of the car as you normally would, using a dashboard cleaner.

Then use a clean microfiber cloth to apply a mixture of one part isopropyl alcohol and one part water (50/50 mix).

Apply this mixture to your dashboard to remove oil, grease, or dirt that may prevent adhesive from sticking to your dashboard.

  • A warning: Isopropyl alcohol can wear down some plastic dashboard panels and car interiors. Make sure the alcohol is sufficiently diluted in water before applying, and be sure to wipe the surface dry afterwards.

Step 3: Remove old products. If the car has had a dashboard protector, wax or decals in the past, all traces of these must be removed prior to installation.

Use a wax and grease remover to remove old residue and make room for future adhesive.

Use a clean cloth to wipe the area dry after applying the residue remover.

Part 2 of 3: Installing the Dashboard Decal Kit

Please read the instructions for your specific kit before reading the general instructions below for installing a dashboard decal kit. Most sticker sets follow the same general instructions as below, but there may be slight differences from set to set.

Step 1: Assemble Your Kit Components. Lay out all of the items in the Client Dashboard Sticker Set in front of you to see which stickers go where.

Test each decal by sticking each piece to the area it will cover with the backing attached to ensure the pieces fit properly on your dashboard.

  • Functions: Make sure all controls, knobs, buttons and vents on your dashboard move easily when the decals are in place to avoid frustrating dashboard control issues later.

Step 2. Start sticking stickers on the dashboard.. Remove the backing from one sticker on the dashboard and carefully stick it in place on the dashboard.

Repeat this process one by one so that none of the stickers stick together.

  • Functions: If you don't know where to start, start with small pieces so you don't have to worry about messing up a big part on the first try. When it's finally time to apply the larger finish, apply the decal from left to right, smoothing out any air bubbles before moving on to the new piece.

Step 3: Press the sticker firmly. Press each sticker for another 5-10 seconds after initial application.

This will help make sure all the edges are in place and prevent additional air bubbles from forming.

Step 4: Leave the stickers lying down. Leave the stickers for 72 hours without touching them to allow the adhesive to completely dry and harden.

  • FunctionsA: You can start this process on the weekend or before your trip. (In other words, the period of time during which you will not be inconvenienced by not being able to use your car for 72 hours.

Part 3 of 3: Maintenance and care of the dashboard sticker

Since you have put in the effort and time to stick the stickers on, you need to make sure that your stickers last as long as possible. To verify this, follow these steps.

Step 1: Clean the stickers. Clean the new decals on the dashboard with water or window cleaner using a clean microfiber towel. (This may be the same towel you used before, as long as it is now clean).

Step 2: Avoid Car Waxes and Protective Products. Never apply automotive waxes or protective products to a vinyl panel kit to avoid potential wear or damage.

If you are using these products, you should avoid contact with your stickers. These cleaners can get under your sticker and it can loosen over time.

With a new set of dashboard stickers, you can enjoy a new personalized look for your interior! With proper installation and care, your new decals will last your vehicles for years to come.
