How to extend tire life?
Tires should be cared for just like the rest of your car. How to do it?
One of the most important considerations is tire pressure. What it should be on the front and rear axles should be written on the car door, on the gas tank flap or simply in the instructions. Much depends, of course, on the type and weight of the vehicle. The most common pressure in passenger cars is between 2,1 and 2,2 bar.
For example, if it is 20 percent lower than it should be, the average mileage of that tire drops to 30 percent. When the pressure is too low, it works more on the sides of the tread. Conversely, if the tire size is too large, the center part of the tire wears out faster.
Another duty is periodic tire balancing every 10-15 thousand. km. If this is not done, the wheel will end up vibrating as it moves. Suspension parts are subject to accelerated wear. Wheels are not properly balanced or missing, causing them to vibrate and lift off the road for a fraction of a second while driving. It is very dangerous.
The load on the car is also important for the quality of the tire. This plays a big role in the case of buses or trucks, because passenger cars are usually not so heavily overloaded. And here, when the car is overloaded and its load is 20 percent more than necessary, the tire mileage is reduced to 30%.
Particular attention should also be paid to the correct installation of the wheels. They must be at right angles to the road. Otherwise, their inner or outer side wears out faster.
And finally, the driving style of a particular driver. It really does matter. When someone rides aggressively, breaks down and "burns a tire", proper tire handling is useless. They will have to be thrown out quickly.
