How to bleed a clutch without a bleed screw?

Your clutch system usually has a screw that allows air to vent if there is air in the fluid. Bleeding is necessary for the clutch to work properly. But sometimes there is no bleed screw in the clutch chain. So here's how to bleed the clutch without bleed screw!

📍 Step 1. Access to the clutch slave cylinder.

The hydraulic clutch consists of several cylinders: one master cylinderwhich transfers the brake fluid under pressure to the calipers and cylinders transmitter et receiver grab. Their role is to transfer energy from the clutch pedal to the clutch release bearing.

On some vehicles, this is also a tank. However, sometimes it is necessary to bleed the clutch. A leak in the clutch circuit causes air to enter the system. Then you need to find it, repair it, and then bleed the clutch.

If you experience the following symptoms, you may have a clutch fluid problem:

• Clutch pedal that remains depressed : If it is stuck at the bottom, the clutch cable may be the cause. But the clutch pedal sticking to the floor is sometimes due to too much air in the circuit, which therefore needs to be removed.
• Soft clutch pedal : If there is not enough fluid in the circuit, the clutch release bearing cannot be actuated due to the lack of pressure. The pedal is released, this is a sign that there is a leak somewhere.
• Gear shifting problems.

To bleed the clutch, you should usually use bleed screw provided for this purpose. However, not all clutches have one. Fortunately, it is still possible to clean your circuit without any problem.

To do this, you must start with push the slave cylinder forward and disconnect the straps from the bar so that you can push it all the way. Warning: Do not cut the strap and keep it to one side.

🔧 Step 2: Connect the master cylinder to the receiver

To pump the clutch, you must tilt the slave cylinder 45 degrees... The master cylinder connection must point up. Fill the slave cylinder with new brake fluid, then insert the master cylinder line into the connector on the receiver.

⚙️ Step 3: Shrink the receiver

Holding the receiver upright and with the hydraulic line as high as possible, compress the cylinder by hand... To do this, press down on the rod and then slowly release it. The stem should be facing the ground and the receiver should be below the master cylinder.

Watch the release of air bubbles from the reservoir of the master cylinder. Usually after 10-15 strokes you should remove all air from the clutch system. When air bubbles in the liquid are no longer visible, the purge is complete!

👨‍🔧 Step 4: Put everything in place

Once the air has been removed from the clutch, reattach the slave cylinder... Make sure your clutch is working properly by starting the engine and depressing the clutch pedal. It should not remain submerged, too hard, or too soft.

Now you know how to cleanse clutch without pumpable screw! This operation is necessary after elimination of leaks for the correct functioning of the system. However, it makes no sense to bleed the clutch if no leak is found, as air will continue to flow. Take your car to a repaired garage for necessary repairs.
