How does the web tensioner work?
The web tensioner is used in upholstery to tighten or stretch the webbing. The web tensioner holds the webbing in place after it has been tensioned so that it can then be locked in place with a hammer and nails or a stapler.
The belt tensioner holds the webbing in two ways, depending on what type of belt tensioner you are using.
Slotted web tensioner | |
The slotted web tensioner holds the webbing in place with a dowel. The tape is threaded through the stretcher, around the dowel, and then back through the stretcher. The dowel then locks the webbing in place as it is too big to fit through the hole.
Web subframes with metal spikes
The spiked web tensioner holds the webbing by piercing the mesh with the spikes to grab it.
After grabbing the webbing, the user can push or pull the web tensioner to tighten the webbing as much as possible. The straps can then be secured in place with a hammer and nails. |
