How does a universal car alarm work? Sensors and devices

There are drivers who believe that car alarms do not make much sense. If a thief wants to steal a car, he will just do it. However, for many vehicle users, such equipment is a necessity. Therefore, if the copy was not equipped with it at the factory, they are interested in self-assembly of the alarm. This gives the expected results, and the owner feels more confident. Before you decide to install a car alarm yourself, you should pay attention to the types of individual solutions.

Car alarm installation - types of protection

There are several types of car alarms on the market that you can install in your car. We present them in the list below:

Popular class of security systems - POP

This is the simplest form of car protection. Thanks to him, you get sensors for opening doors, trunk lids and hoods. A triggered car alarm notifies you of an attempt to break into the car with a sound signal. It cannot be confused with anything else. The disadvantage of the solution is a permanent security code.

Car alarm class standard - STD

This is a slightly more advanced type of security available in vehicles. In addition to the sound notification, it also works with a traffic light. Such a car alarm has a siren with a separate power supply, and the sensors are additionally mounted in the engine and in the passenger compartment. The key code is variable.

Professional vehicle safety class - PRF

This is an extensive security system, not only in terms of an increased number of sensors, but also the registration of electrical circuits and the presence of its own power supply system. PRF-type car alarms are more difficult to encode, which is obviously associated with a higher level of security.. Autonomous power works even in situations where the car battery is discharged.

The highest special class of signaling - EXTRA

This is first-class security, not only in terms of price, but above all in terms of quality. In addition to having all kinds of sensors for doors, hood, interior, engine and electrical circuits, it also has GPS (allows you to determine the location of the car) and connects to the owner's phone (GSM alert). Modern alarm modules are often controlled by smartphones.

Installing a reliable car alarm - the price of an individual solution

Which security to choose based only on the price? There is no denying that standard, frequently used security systems are the cheapest. Their cost should be close to 10 euros. Solutions for STDs cost more than 30 euros. For the most extensive car alarm with homologation, you will have to pay even several thousand zlotys.

Here, however, a warning - the price of a car alarm does not solve everything, its installation is also important. Very simple POP solutions can be installed by yourself by following the instructions. However, advanced and equipped with GPS and other functions are best installed in specialized workshops. This will not empty your wallet much, and you will be sure that everything is done correctly.

How does a car alarm sensor work?

The principle of operation of the car alarm is very simple. All sensors responsible for sending signals to the processor are connected to it, and when information is sent, an alarm siren is turned on. As long as everything is connected correctly and the sensitivity of the individual sensors is optimal, there are no serious problems with such a system. To do this, the car alarm should not be installed in places subject to moisture or damage.. Otherwise, it will turn out that at the moment of danger the alarm signal will not give the expected signal or will emit it for no reason.

What additional anti-theft sensors can be put in the car?

Car security by installing a car alarm does not have to be based only on the installation of a door or hood sensor.. Very popular solutions include, for example, a pressure and voltage sensor. How it works? When it is armed and any door is opened at the same time, the air pressure in the car is reduced. In addition, the battery voltage also drops when the interior lights come on. Thus, it can warn the owner of an attempt to get into the vehicle.

Another sensor is the gravity system. This is effective when the thief tries to tow the vehicle and change its location without opening the door. The towing sensor (as it can also be called) reacts to any attempt to lift the car.

How to turn off the alarm in the car? Management

Of course, this is not an attempt to instruct people who want to get into someone else's car. The point is to deal with a broken alarm that, despite the best intentions, just doesn't want to turn off. When the remote is not responding and you need to get to it, how can you do it? Disabling the car alarm is associated with the transfer of the system into emergency mode. Very often this is done with a PIN code.

The key is to find the "Valet" button, which signals the electronics to go into emergency/service mode. The next step is to simultaneously press this button and one of the pedals (clutch, brake, gas) and hold them for a few seconds until a light and sound message is received.

If you are wondering how to disable the car alarm permanently using a PIN code, then you definitely need to know the numbers that make it up. Let's say this number is 65. In this case, turn on the ignition, press the service button 6 times, turn the ignition off and on, and press the service button 5 times again.

Other ways to disable car alarms

Sometimes something breaks to such an extent that there is nothing left but to turn off the system. Car alarm without additional deactivation must be disabled. This can be done by turning off the fuse responsible for its power supply. If this is not possible, it will be necessary to remove the battery and disable the siren. There may be a problem here, because it can be located literally anywhere, and you can also confuse it with a horn. Once you find it, turn off the power or cut the cables and insulate them so you can reconnect them later. Then go to the place where it's done ON RIGHTS car alarm.

Fake car alarm - does it make sense?

There is an option, thanks to which you do not need a key or a car alarm remote control.. Of course, this is the layout of such protection. It is usually mounted in a place that is prominent enough for a potential thief, but standard enough to be associated with an alarm. As long as the amateurs are affected by such a trick and repulsed, the specialist in theft does not hesitate when he notices such an addition. What else, especially since it is worth trying to get such a vehicle, because it is not protected by anything.

While a car alarm can be a problematic solution in the event of a breakdown, it is a very economical solution, especially for newer vehicles. Worth having it on board so you don't leave your vehicle on a thief's plate.
