Those who have been endowed by nature with curly strands often have unpleasant childhood memories of combing. Unruly curls are easily tangled and tangled, and parents, wanting to solve the problem, often take a regular comb and try to comb them out. Effect? A lot of pain, and at the same time a complete loss of curls, fluffiness and underload.

Curly people often spend years trying to figure out how to handle their curls the right way. Fortunately, there are universal methods that will make even the most unruly hair curl. It is worth using appropriate techniques, as well as accessories available in our range, such as brushes for curly hair, which we will tell you about later in the text.

Dry or wet - how to comb curly hair?

The most common mistake is brushing dry hair. Care instructions often contain advice against wet brushing due to the greater susceptibility of the hair structure to damage. However, for curls this is the best solution. Remember that water should not drip from your hair - it is desirable that they be damp. Before combing, they should be squeezed out with a towel, but not with a hairdryer.

Combing wet hair will help you avoid the frizz and tangle problems that are most often associated with dry styling. Of course, a lot depends on the level of twist. The principle is the following: the more curled your hair, the more difficult it will be for you to comb it dry with a satisfactory result.

Brush for detangling curly hair or comb - how to comb curly hair?

The choice of brush is just as important as the right way to wash and care for curly hair. A brush for curly hair should be made of natural materials (for example, boar bristles), which will not contribute to the accumulation of static electricity on the strands and further damage their delicate structure. The distance between the needles should be wide - this will reduce the risk of tangling.

Instead of a brush, a comb for curly hair is perfect. Here, too, it is worth remembering that the wider the needles are spaced, the better. Some owners of curls do not use brushes at all, because it is easier to achieve the desired effect with a comb. An example of an ideal accessory for curly hair is the Kashōki Mayumi Mayumi comb, with a very wide pitch and distinctive ergonomic shape.

People with a slight curve will love the Tangle Teezer comb, which made quite a splash on the market a few years ago. It is ideal for special tasks as it detangles tangles without pulling or pulling. This is the perfect comb for wavy hair prone to tangles. You can use it on both dry and damp hair. However, we do not recommend it to owners of curls with very large wrapping. A tangle teezer can keep it from getting pretty underlined.

Combing is important - but to achieve spectacular results, you should also remember about proper washing. In the case of a storm of curls, the best solution would be to use the OMO method.

OMO method - what is it and how to use it?

As cryptic as it may sound, this is just an abbreviation for the order in which hair care products should be used: conditioner, rinse, conditioner. At first, such a concept may come as a surprise - we are used to using shampoo primarily because it cleanses the hair. However, the OMO method has its justification. The conditioner is applied before the shampoo to protect the hair. Before what? First of all, against silicones and parabens, as well as SLS and SLES - deep cleansing substances that are often present in shampoos. They can be very dry, and for curly hair that easily loses moisture, the consequences can be really terrible.

Is it not enough just to choose a shampoo with a good composition? Of course - if it is devoid of the substances mentioned above, the risk of overdrying will be small. However, in the case of curly hair, it is worth blowing cold and taking care of the maximum protection of your strands.

After applying the conditioner, it's time to shampoo your hair. The greatest attention should be paid to the roots of the hair. It is not necessary to thoroughly wash the nozzles - they are the most vulnerable to damage and the least dirty. The second conditioner can wash off the remnants of shampoo from the entire surface of the hair.

A second application of the conditioner is essential for curly hair that loses moisture easily. Choose an emollient - the oils it contains will provide the strands with a protective coating that will trap moisture in the hair structure, and at the same time protect them from damage when combing.

The basis is a good brush and wet combing, and if you additionally use the OMO method, you can expect a really spectacular effect. A combination of these good practices will accentuate curl and add shine to your hair.
