How to advertise your used car with a showcase

To be more successful when trying to sell your car, you need to advertise it even when you are on the road. In addition to cleaning your car and making sure it looks its best, placing for sale notices prominently on your car can help bring it to the attention of potential buyers.

Part 1 of 2: Clean your car

Necessary materials

  • Bucket
  • car soap
  • car wax
  • Hard bristle brush
  • Microfiber towels
  • Vacuums

To make your car more attractive to potential buyers, wash it before selling it. A shiny exterior and a clean interior will help you sell your car.

Step 1: Clean the outside. Start by washing the outside of your car, using car soap and water to wash away dirt and debris.

Start at the top of the car and work your way down, working in sections if necessary.

Remember to brush your tires with a stiff bristle brush.

After the exterior of the car is clean, dry the surface of the car with a microfiber towel. This helps prevent stubborn water stains from forming.

  • Functions: If you have the time and budget, take your car to a professional auto repair shop for diagnostics.

Step 2: Apply wax on the outside. After washing the car, apply a layer of wax, waxing one section at a time.

Let the wax dry and then wipe it off with a clean microfiber towel.

Step 3: Clean the Interior. Once you've finished with the exterior, it's time to clean up your car's interior.

Start by clearing large pieces of debris. Remove the car mats and clean them separately.

Vacuum the floor of the car, making sure it gets into all the nooks and crannies inside and under the seats.

Use a vinyl, carpet, or leather cleaner to remove particularly stubborn stains from upholstery.

Part 2 of 2. Make and post sale signs

Even with a clean car, if passers-by don't know your car is for sale, they won't be able to approach you to buy it. Make a "For Sale" sign and hang it on your car.

Necessary materials

  • Large bright color marker
  • Scissors
  • White cardboard or poster board
  • tape

Step 1: Determine the dimensions of the sale sign. When making signs for sale, don't make them too big or they will get in the way while you drive. Make sure it's big enough to provide basic information like your contact details and car price, but not so big that it gets in the way of your view.

An 8.5" x 11.5" piece of sturdy white card stock or poster board is large enough for most sale signs.

Step 2: Decide what information to include. Write "For Sale" at the top of the sign in big, bold letters, preferably in an eye-catching color like red. Include other information such as the price of the vehicle in bold type.

Finally, include a phone number where anyone can contact you. Whether it's a mobile or home number, make sure it's visible to potential buyers as you drive by.

Step 3: Placing the "For Sale" Sign. Pay attention to the placement and positioning of the "For Sale" signs in your vehicle.

When placing for sale signs, try to place them both on the rear door windows and on the rear window. Now you can drive with minimal obstruction and still let others know that you are interested in selling your car.

When parking, you can also place the sign on the windshield so that it can be seen from the front of the car. Make sure you remove the sign from the front windshield when you are driving.

  • A warning: It is against the law to obstruct the view through the windshield and both windows of the front doors while driving.

You can sell a car faster if you advertise it on the go. Just make sure you don't block your view or you could get in trouble with the law.

It is best that you hire a certified mechanic, such as from AvtoTachki, to perform a pre-purchase vehicle inspection and safety check to determine if you need to fix anything before selling your vehicle.
