How to make sure that the side windows of the car do not get dirty from dirt and slush
Drivers of cars of all classes, from budget to premium, are forced to suffer from pollution of side windows, especially the front ones. Most people prefer to somehow put up with disgusting visibility in the rear mirrors, but in vain - this is a direct threat to road safety.
Dirty side windows of a car while driving is a common and year-round problem. In winter, even in the most severe frost, anti-icing agents cover the most beautiful road with vile slush that flies from under the wheels and settles on all surfaces of cars, including windows. In the spring, streams of melt water create exactly the same effect, and in summer and autumn, you have to thank the rains for the stained side windows. The most unpleasant thing is that windshield pollution can be somehow dealt with with the help of regular wipers and a huge consumption of windshield washer fluid.
There are no windshield wipers for the side windows. Meanwhile, dirty driver's side windows interfere with the use of side mirrors. "Thanks" to the dirt, it is quite possible not to notice a downstream neighbor when changing lanes or to stick a bumper into some hard thing while parking, especially at dusk. In general, dirty side windows are another “pleasure”. And it is difficult to deal with these leaks. Yes, you can, for example, stop, pick up clean snow on the side of the road, throw it on the windows, and wait until it starts to melt, wipe the dirt from the glass with it. The process of this cleaning, despite its obvious primitiveness, takes a noticeable amount of time.
Approximately the same length of time usually passes from the moment you start from the curb until the windows acquire exactly the same degree of pollution as before they were cleared with snow - if we are talking about driving on the highway and the proper amount of slush on it. That is, periodic cleaning with snow can be recommended only when the dirt on the side windows completely ceases to transmit light. "Smart" car owners, in a situation where the windows are stained and reluctant to stop, remember that power windows can also be used to clean windows! Taking advantage of the fact that the dirt on the windows is semi-liquid, they lower the window panes right on the move, and then raise them again.
In this case, part of the dirt is erased-smeared on the seals. Visibility through the side glass after such an operation becomes slightly better. For a while. But forever on the glass after that there will be risks and scratches left by grains of sand that are inevitably present in the road slush! So, it turns out, the dirt on the side windows is invincible? This is not true!
To keep windows from getting dirty, they should not be washed, and not let dirt stick to the glass. In auto chemical stores, a lot of anti-rain preparations are sold. Their action is based on giving the surface water-repellent properties. So that the windows do not get dirty and the dirt on them does not interfere with the use of mirrors, it is enough to treat the glass from time to time with some kind of “anti-rain”. Two or three preventive treatments per season, and you don’t have to be nervous about slush-covered windows!
