How to watch your car in a large parking lot

Losing your car in a crowded parking lot happens to everyone, and it's always frustrating. When you're parking in a crowded area, it can seem almost impossible to find your car when you return to pick it up, no matter how sure you are that you know exactly where you parked.

However, there are some simple strategies you can use to make sure you never lose your car in a crowded parking lot again.

Method 1 of 4: Be careful when parking

Step 1. Park near the attraction.. Find an easily visible landmark to park nearby. It may not be possible to find a point of interest to park near, but you can usually find a high point of interest and park next to it to easily determine where your car is.

  • Functions: Look for unique trees or lampposts or specific features specific to the part of the car park you are in. For example, if you are at an amusement park, park near certain roller coasters.

Step 2: Stay away from crowded places. There is no guarantee that your section of the parking lot won't fill up before you get back to your car, but your chances will increase if you start in a place where there are no people yet.

As long as you're willing to go a little farther, wherever you're heading, you should be able to find a relatively deserted part of the parking lot. If this area remains deserted, it will be much easier for you to find your car when you return.

Step 3: Stick to the edges of the parking lot. There is no easier place to find your car than at the edge of a parking lot.

When you park on the side of the road, the number of cars surrounding your car is drastically reduced and your car becomes more visible.

  • Functions: If you have trouble finding the car when it is parked on the edge, you can go around the edges of the parking lot and eventually you will find it.

Method 2 of 4: Document your parking space

Step 1 Write down on your phone where you parked.. Most car parks have marked sections to make it easier to remember where you parked (for example, you can park at P3).

As tempting as it is to think you'll remember this shortcut, you'll probably forget it before you get back to your car. It only takes a few seconds for you to make a note on your phone about which section you are parked in, and this can make all the difference when it comes time to find your car.

Step 2: Take a photo of your car. After parking, use your phone to take a photo of where your car is parked so you can look back at it for reference.

For best results, take a photo of your vehicle and its surroundings, and then take another shot of a nearby landmark (such as a section mark, elevator sign, or exit sign).

Method 3 of 4: Make your car easier to identify from a distance

Step 1: Add a colorful antenna top. Antenna pads are higher than most vehicles, making it easier to find your vehicle. The colorful antenna cover makes it much easier to spot your vehicle in a crowded area, yet discreet enough to be barely visible when you're not looking for it.

Step 2: Add a flag to your car. If you want something that's easier to see than an antenna, you can put a flag on your car. Car flags are attached to the top of the door and stand out so you can easily find your car even in the most crowded parking lot.

  • Functions: You can find a flag for something you like, like your favorite sports team, so this will not only make your car easier to find, but also add an element of personalization.

Method 4 of 4: Use Technology to Help You

Step 1. Download the car finder app. There are several apps available today to help you find your car. These apps use GPS to help you get back to where you parked and make finding your car in a crowded parking lot a breeze.

Step 2Use a remote keyless entry system. A remote keyless entry system is a great way to find your car when you know you're in the right area but still can't find your car (for example, at night when visual cues are harder to find). If you are within range of your remote keyless entry system, you can press the panic button to set the alarm and flash the lights to alert you to where your vehicle is.

  • Functions: If your remote keyless entry system does not have a panic button, you can press the lock button twice; if you are within range, the lights will flash and the lock beep will sound.

Use one or more of these methods to find your car in the parking lot. You can be sure that you know exactly where you parked and you won't have to spend hours looking for your car.
