How to become a Lyft driver

Transport needs are constantly changing. In busy cities, this often means that people live near the office or commute to work by public transport rather than by car. These labour-intensive modes of transportation can sometimes be unreliable and may even seem less safe than desired.

An option exists in many urban areas, a social ride-sharing service known as Lyft. It connects affordable local drivers driving their own vehicles with customers looking for an affordable alternative to driving and parking, hiring a taxi or using public transportation.

Using Lyft's sharing service is easy:

  • Download the Lyft app to your smartphone or tablet.
  • Create an account with credit card details.
  • Sign in, then book a ride.
  • List your current location and destination in detail.
  • A Lyft driver will come to your place to pick you up and get you there safely and quickly.

If you own a car and want to make a living or work as a driver, you can sign up as a Lyft driver. There are several requirements that must be met:

  • Drivers must be at least 21 years old and have an iPhone or Android phone.
  • You must pass a DVM background check, as well as a local and national background check.
  • Your vehicle must have at least four doors and five seat belts.
  • Your vehicle must be licensed and registered in the state in which you operate.
  • Your vehicle must be checked for condition and may also need to meet age requirements.

The process to become a driver is simple and fast and the payment is always guaranteed because it is processed in the app. Here's how to become a Lyft driver.
