How does the type of car body affect its sales in the secondary market

A popular online used car auction analyzed the used car market in the first half of 2017 and found out which models and body types were in high demand in Russia over the past period. According to the statistics, sedans (35,6%) are the most popular, followed by SUVs (27%) and hatchbacks (22,7%). The remaining 10% of the secondary market falls on all other body types.

Among the leaders were also identified specific brands of cars. According to the results of the first six months, Volkswagen, Hyundai and Chevrolet sedans were actively sold: on average, 8% of the total. Among SUVs, Nissan (11,5%), Volkswagen (5,5%) and Mitsubishi (5,5%) changed hands more frequently; among hatchbacks - Opel (12,9%), Ford (11,9%) and Peugeot (9,9%).

If we talk about the age of cars, then according to the results of research, 23,5% of sedans and 29% of hatchbacks left at the age of 9-10 years. For SUVs, the situation was different: 27,7% of the total number were cars produced in 2011-2012.
