How to install blind rivets?
Content
Blind rivets are installed using a riveter, sometimes referred to as a riveter or rivet gun.
Step 1 - Clamping materialPress the pieces of material together, making sure they are in line with each other, with no gaps.
Step 2 - Drilling materialOnce the material is clamped and secured in place, use a properly sized drill bit to drill through the material to make a hole for the rivet.
Step 3 - Installing the rivetPlace the rivet pin in the drilled hole with the head and shank facing up.
Step 4 - Placing the RiveterSlide the riveter head onto the rivet mandrel.
Step 5 - Using a rivet gunSqueeze the handles of the riveter together. This will pull the stud head into the rivet, causing the end of the rivet to expand.
Pulling the riveter further causes the shank to break, leaving the rivet permanently fixed, holding pieces of material together. Repeat the process for each pair of holes. |
