How to increase the Leaf's 24 kWh range? You need to install power bank on it!

A group of Nissan Leaf USA / English owners posted a photo of a Nissan Leaf with a poorly discharged battery, which allowed it to travel just 101 km on a single charge. Then someone showed a modified Leaf rangefinder, which allegedly had a second 24 kWh battery.

As the car owner praised, the tuned Nissan Leaf (2012) has the original 24 kWh battery, to which a “power bank” has been added, that is, a second battery with a capacity of 24 kWh. The computer is supposed to read the total amount of energy, which means that the meters show 236 kilometers of available range (photo above) - and this is not fully charged!

The modification was supposed to cost 11,3 thousand zlotys (3 thousand US dollars) and was carried out in the Kingdom of Jordan. As the car owner commented, there are over 150 of these customized Leafs in Jordan, most of which are used by Uber. The total range of the car on both batteries should be 280 kilometers.

There is not much to see in the presented film (source). The odometer shows a quite normal range, and the only thing that can indicate a car modification is a very shallow trunk. Unfortunately, the video is in Arabic:

It is worth adding that Nissan Leaf 48 kWh already built at the Nissan Technical Center in Barcelona (NCTE-S). The batteries, however, took up a lot of space in the rear of the car, making the car a two-seater:
