How to hit a curb in a low car

Driving onto a curb is a maneuver that all drivers should be able to perform. Despite the fact that driving on the sidewalk and driving on it in most cases are considered violations of the traffic rules, there are many cases when driving on the curb is allowed by the rules. We list the cases when the rules of the road allow you to drive onto the curb:

  • if the sign 6.4 is installed - Parking with signs that show exactly how you can park the vehicle on the edge of the sidewalk;
  • if, in accordance with paragraph 9.9 of the SDA, a car delivering goods or performing public works cannot get to the desired object in any other way than driving through the sidewalk.

In addition, in residential areas where traffic rules are rarely enforced, drivers often drive over curbs to take short cuts. The only pity is that in driving schools this maneuver is not taught.

So, before you call on the curb, you need to determine its height. The height of the curb is a relative concept and it depends entirely on the height of the bumper of your car.

How to hit a curb in a low car

Driving on a low curb

A low curb is no problem, it is much lower than the height of your car's bumper. You can drive into it at any angle, but all precautions should be observed: when driving perpendicularly, first slowly release the clutch so that the front wheels drive in, then drive in the rear wheels just as slowly.

Drive to middle curb

The middle curb is lower than your bumper, but you may experience rear wheel drive problems if you drive from a position perpendicular to the pavement. Therefore, it is better to put the car at an angle of 45 degrees to the sidewalk and alternately drive in each wheel individually.

If the car refuses to drive, the engine starts to stall, then you should press the gas pedal or note how to drive onto a high curb.

High curb

A high curb is higher than the bumper of your car, so in the absence of experience, you can not only embarrass yourself in front of other drivers, but also damage the bumper and pan. You need to drive in from a position parallel to the curb.

Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right - so the wheel will be on the curb before the bumper. Then the rear right wheel drives in, for this you need to drive along the sidewalk a little forward. Then again we completely turn the steering wheel and the front left wheel drives in, and the last - the rear right.

This way of driving can cause a lot of pressure on the tires of the car, looking at the tires we will see how they sag under the weight of the car. Therefore, try to avoid races on a high curb, so as not to overstrain the resource of your car once again.
