How to Replace a Lost or Stolen Vehicle in Missouri
Content
Title of the vehicle is a very important document. This little piece of paper identifies you as the registered owner of your car, which also gives you the option to sell your car, transfer ownership, and register it in another state. Most of the time, it's a piece of paper that you won't use or even think about every day. However, when these situations arise, you will suddenly find yourself drawn to her. So what happens if you can't find that title, or worse, what happens if it gets stolen? That's when you'll need to look into getting a duplicate car.
In Missouri, these duplicate vehicle names are administered by the Missouri Department of Revenue (DOR). The process is simple and relatively fast. You have the option to apply in person or by mail, whichever is more convenient for you.
Personally
If you choose to receive a duplicate car in person, you will need to find the nearest MO DOR office.
You will then need to complete the Missouri Title and License Application (Form DOR-108). You can get the form from your local office or download it online. Be sure to include the reason you are requesting a duplicate header and your address.
You will need a notary to certify your signature, you will need to present your current title if you have one (regardless of how damaged it may be) and fees included. There is a processing fee of $2.50 and a duplicate name fee of $11.
By mail
- If you choose to submit your application by mail, simply follow all the steps above and then submit the completed materials and check at:
