How to replace the cabin filter on an Audi A6 C7

Any modern car is equipped with an air purification system, and the Audi A6 C7 is no exception. The filter element, which purifies the air in the car, is necessary so that dust particles, pollen and other pollutants do not get into it. This can make breathing difficult or damage parts of the vehicle's heating and air conditioning system.

Compared to most other cars, changing the cabin air filter on an Audi A6 C7 is relatively easy. Special preparation for this operation is not required. All you need is the new filter element itself.

There is no point in talking about the benefits of the salon, especially when it comes to coal. Therefore, it is not surprising that self-installation of filters in cars has become commonplace. This is a fairly simple routine maintenance procedure, there is nothing complicated about it.

Removing and installing a new filter element

Replacing the cabin filter on an Audi A6 C7 is a fairly simple routine maintenance procedure. There is nothing complicated about this, so it is very simple to make a replacement with your own hands.

For greater comfort, we moved the front passenger seat as far back as possible. After that, we begin to perform the operation itself point by point:

1. We move the front passenger seat all the way back, for other more convenient actions. After all, the cabin filter is installed under the glove compartment and with the seat moved back, access to it will be easier (Fig. 1).
2. We bend under the glove compartment and unscrew the two plastic screws that secure the soft pad. Carefully detach the lining itself, especially near the air ducts, try not to tear it (Fig. 2).
3. After removing the soft pad, access to the installation site is open, now you need to remove the plastic pad. To remove it, you need to remove the latch, which is located on the right. The location is indicated by an arrow (Fig. 3).
4. If the cabin filter is changed often enough, then after removing the plastic cover, it will lower and all that remains is to remove it. But if it's heavily clogged, accumulated debris can hold it back. In this case, it is necessary to pry with something, for example, with a screwdriver (Fig. 4).
5. Now it remains to install a new filter element, but you can first vacuum the seat with a thin nozzle of a vacuum cleaner (Fig. 5).
6. After replacement, it remains only to replace the cover and check if the latch is closed. We also install the foam pad in its place and fix it with plastic lambs.

When installing, pay attention to the filter element itself. The top chamfered corner, which should be on the right side, indicates the correct installation position.

When removing the filter, as a rule, a large amount of debris accumulates on the mat. It is worth vacuuming from the inside and the body of the stove - the dimensions of the slot for the filter make it quite easy to work with a narrow vacuum cleaner nozzle.

Which side to install

In addition to actually replacing the air filter element in the cabin, it is important to install it on the right side. There is a simple notation for this:

• Only one arrow (no inscription) - indicates the direction of air flow.
• The arrow and the inscription UP indicate the top edge of the filter.
• The arrow and the inscription AIR FLOW indicate the direction of the air flow.
• If the flow is from top to bottom, then the extreme edges of the filter should be like this - ////
• If the flow is from bottom to top, then the extreme edges of the filter should be - ////

In the Audi A6 C7, it is impossible to go wrong on the installation side, because the manufacturer has taken care of it. The right edge of the filter has a beveled appearance, which eliminates the installation error; otherwise it just won't work.

When to change, which interior to install

For scheduled repairs, there are regulations, as well as recommendations from the manufacturer. According to them, the cabin filter of the Audi A6 C7 heating and air conditioning system should be replaced every 15 km or once a year.

Since the operating conditions of the car in most cases will be far from ideal, experts advise to carry out this operation twice as often - in spring and autumn.

The manufacturer recommends using only original consumables, which, in general, is not surprising. By themselves, they are not of poor quality and are widely distributed in car dealerships, but their price may seem overpriced to many car owners.
