Replacing the ignition switch on a VAZ 2107 - instructions

I think I often had to deal with such a problem as a breakdown of the ignition lock. In this case, you may not start the car at all, and you have to pull the wires out of the lock and start using the old method. Replacing this part with a VAZ 2107 yourself is quite simple. There will not be a large list of tools, as is usually the case in articles zarulemvaz.ru, and you only need:

• Flat blade screwdriver
• crosshead screwdriver

Replacing the ignition lock VAZ 2107 and 2106, 2101, 2103, 2104 and 2105

Since the ignition lock of the VAZ 2107 and all other “classic” models is located under the steering cover, it is accordingly necessary to first remove it, or rather its lower part, by unscrewing several mounting bolts:

Then you can remove the upper part of the casing, since it is no longer attached:

 

Next, you need to crawl under the panel with your hand and disconnect all the power wires at the back of the ignition switch. But keep in mind that before that, you must definitely remove the “minus” terminal from the battery. It is also better to remember which wire corresponds to each contact of the lock, in order to connect everything correctly in the future.

Now we turn off the two bolts with a screwdriver, which are marked in the photo below:

But it is also fixed on the left side. In order to release it, you need to use a thin screwdriver or even an awl to press on a certain “latch” as shown in the picture below:

At the same time, we pull the lock towards ourselves and it can be removed without any problems:

The price of the new castle is about 350 rubles. After the purchase, we install everything in the reverse order and the replacement procedure can be considered complete.
