How is Chevrolet Bolt / Opel Ampera-e fast charging? According to Fastned, the operator of the network of charging stations, the process takes place in several stages. The slowdown occurs at about 70 percent of the battery capacity.

When connected to a 50 kW charging station, the Opel Ampera-e and its twin brother, Chevrolet Bolt, charge in the following steps:

up to about 52 percent at 43-> 46 kW,
from about 53 percent with a power of 40 kW,
from about 57 percent at a power of 38-> 40 kW,
from about 70 percent at a power of 22-> 23 kW,
from about 85 to 97 percent at 15 kW.

It's the only electric vehicle in the Fastned lineup to manipulate charging power so much. Other cars usually start with 39-42 kW and allow more power, and at the very end they sharply reduce it.
