How to protect your windshield from insects
Riding in the summer on country roads is almost always associated with a misfortune called insects. This small flying creature quickly covers the windshield of any car, sometimes with such a layer that it seriously impedes visibility. How to deal with this rubbish?
Multi-colored spots of a dried incomprehensible substance mixed with pieces of chitin dotting the front and windshield of the car are a sure summer sign that it has recently moved along a high-speed country road. The paintwork, made by the corpses of flying reptiles, affects, by and large, only the aesthetic impression of the car. And the glass spat by the remains of insects is not only annoying, but also frankly interferes with the review. When driving outside the city at night, insects on it become more than a real security threat. Therefore, most drivers from year to year think about some radical way to deal with this natural phenomenon.
The first thing that comes to mind is the installation of some gizmo on the hood, which would direct the incoming air flow in such a way that flying creatures miss the “frontal”. This device has been around for a long time. The "fly swatter", which is something like a kind of wing, is installed on the front of the hood in the hope that at least some of the stones and insects will be thrown away from the car. However, practice shows that after installing such a chipper, there is no noticeable reduction in glass pollution with winged carrion. If physical protection does not work, it makes sense to turn to chemical.
A recipe roams the Internet, stating that regular rubbing of the windshield with anti-glare preparations makes it less prone to sticking insects. Of course, reliable confirmation or refutation of this theory could not be found. From personal experience, we can say that if the glass is treated with some kind of “anti-rain”, almost twice as many insects stick to it than on the same machine, but without “anti-rain”. What exactly this effect is connected with is not entirely clear. However, with the help of "wipers" the corpses from the glass rubbed with such chemistry are washed off, still better.
Since we are talking about removing insects from glass, it should be recalled that the fresher the wiper blades, the better they remove any pollution, including the remains of flying animals. To remove insects from the windshield, special summer windshield washer fluids are sold in car dealerships and gas stations. The inscriptions on the labels assure that with their help the lumps of arthropods are washed off “once or twice”. In practice, not every such “washer” confirms advertising assurances.
A proven glass cleaner for insects are household liquids for cleaning windows, glass and tile surfaces. We take a bottle of such a product, add its contents to the washer reservoir filled with ordinary water, and we get a guaranteed effective liquid that can remove adhering insects from the windshield in just two strokes of the wipers.
