How to insure a car? OSAGO, CASCO where is it better to do it

Any motorist wants to protect himself from various problems that can happen to him and his car. The best way to save yourself from extra cash costs is auto insurance. In Russia, there are such types of car insurance:

• OSAGO;
• DSAGO;
• CASCO.

If you do not have an OSAGO policy in your hands, you are subject to administrative liability and you may be fined in accordance with the Code of Administrative Offenses. Under OSAGO, the maximum amount of payments is 400 thousand, this money will be used to compensate for the damage you caused to the injured party. If this amount is not enough, you can receive compensation payments under the DSAGO policy. If you want the damage caused to your car or health to be compensated, then you will have to draw up a CASCO policy.

To insure a car, you need to choose an insurance company. The cost of OSAGO and DSAGO policies is fixed throughout Russia and depends on various factors: the cost of a car, engine power, age, the number of insured events in the past, etc. To apply for insurance, you must provide:

• your passport;
• VU;
• registration certificate.

In addition to these, there are other documents: a certificate of registration, a coupon for passing MOT, VU and passports of persons inscribed in OSAGO, an insurance policy for the past year.

Any insurance company will require these documents from you, in addition, the package may expand depending on the chosen insurance program and special conditions: for example, if a car was bought on credit, then you will definitely need to present an agreement with the bank. Some companies may require a certificate of payment for the cost of a car in the cabin in order to correctly calculate the cost of an insurance policy.

If you bought a car that was previously in use, you will need to present a certificate of appraisal of its value. To issue a CASCO policy, the agent may require information about the conditions for storing the car and about the anti-theft systems that you use.

When you have all the documents in your hands, you fill out an application, the agent enters all the data into a special form. All this must be read very carefully and signed. You can also apply for insurance via the Internet by sending all the data by e-mail. The insurance company will fill out all the documents on their own, and you only have to sign them.

After paying the receipt, you will be given a policy, a receipt for payment and a brochure with insurance rules. All this must be kept for the duration of the insurance policy.
