Which cordless impact drivers are available?
Screwdrivers | |
There are three main types of screwdriver bits:
Insert bitsInsert bits are typically 25 m (1 in) long and are designed for use in magnetic bit holders or power tools with a magnetic chuck. They can also be used in keyless chucks.
Power bitsPower bits come in a variety of lengths from 50mm (2″) and up and are designed specifically for use in keyless chucks because they have a power groove on the body that engages with metal ball bearings inside the keyless chuck. This means that compared to insert bits, they sit more securely in the chuck.
double sided bitsReversible screwdriver bits come in a variety of sizes and are designed specifically for use in 3 or 4 jaw chucks. They cannot be used in keyless chucks.
Socket Screwdriver Bits
Socket bits are used to drive bolts or nuts and are often used with socket wrenches. However, there are "socket driver bits" with a ¼ inch (6.35 mm) hex shank so they can be used in cordless impact drivers to install or remove bolts.
Drill | |
Cordless impact drivers are primarily designed for driving screws, however they can also be used for drilling holes if you use the right bit. Drills with ¼" (6.35 mm) hex shank can be used in cordless impact wrenches.
The most common drills available with these shanks are usually standard twist drills in various lengths and widths. |
