Which American pickups do not protect passengers, but protect drivers

Many will agree that the car is a source of increased danger. Of course, a modern car, unlike its predecessors, has been significantly replenished with a variety of various systems and devices. Thanks to them, it was possible to significantly reduce the risk of injury and injury, both to the driver and passengers in the event of an accident.

Nevertheless, despite all the efforts of engineers and designers, there is no need to talk about a complete guarantee of safety yet.

More recently, a group of competent experts from an American think tank conducted a rather curious study. They were interested in the question of the level of safety of the driver and passengers inside the pickups.

During the study, it was possible to come up with rather unexpected results. As it turned out, the passengers in the pickup are subject to a much greater risk of injury than the drivers themselves. In the course of the work carried out, the specialists were also able to identify among all currently available pickups those that have the lowest level of security.

The results of the study were confirmed in practice. Namely, for the period of all test samples and other events, a large number of crash tests were carried out, the participants of which were 10 pikapov a variety of brands.

At the same time, according to the degree and nature of the damage caused to the dummy-driver and passenger, a comprehensive assessment of the safety of each specific vehicle was carried out. What models are included in this ill-fated list?

The most reliable in terms of safety was the Ford F-150.

He showed the best result in terms of many aspects. So, when it hit an obstacle, its dashboard shifted to the smallest value - about 13 cm. In addition, airbags and seat belts proved to be excellent. This is evidenced by the fact that neither the driver nor the passenger moved from their original position at the time of impact.

Behind him was Nissan Titan and Ram 1500.

These pickups, of course, are somewhat inferior to the leader, but still fully comply with the requirements and safety standards of a modern car. The tests made sure that everyone in the cabin is equally well protected from injury in accidents and collisions.

Nevertheless, one of the employees of the analytical center, David Zubi, expressed some thoughts regarding the presented pickups. In his opinion, the tests carried out showed that, despite the fact that both pickups performed in the best way, they still have some vulnerabilities that manufacturers need to pay special attention to.

On the lower line of the rating is Toyota Tacoma.

The results of the frontal crash test did not quite satisfy the experts. Nevertheless, in general, the car looked quite decent against the background of all the others.

A much more depressing picture appeared before the experts during testing. Honda Ridgeline, Chevrolet Colorado, Nissan Frontier and GMC Sierra 1500.

It is worth noting that previous tests of the presented brands were much more encouraging. Then pickups were at least able to please with a high level of driver protection. The only exception was the Nissan Frontier. Both the driver and the passenger, upon contact with an obstacle, had a hard time at all.

This car showed itself in the worst way. Suffice it to mention the fact that under the same conditions being equal, a passenger suffered a serious head injury by burying himself in the handle on the A-pillar. Yes, and the panel went indecently far into the salon - as much as 38 cm.
