What cars break down the most? Rating of broken cars

Any car, no matter how expensive it is, eventually needs to be repaired. Assemblies and parts that move and come into contact with each other naturally experience the effects of friction and heavy loads, and even the best lubricants and oils cannot protect the metal from wear. The chassis suffers from driving on not the best roads, the cylinder-piston group wears out from low-quality gasoline. Severe weather conditions in Russia and non-compliance with operating requirements have a bad effect on the car.

Insurance companies both abroad and in our country rank the most reliable and unreliable cars. In Russia, detailed studies on this topic have not been conducted, but it’s clear that all those budget “foreign cars” of local assembly and samples of the domestic auto industry, which are so many on our roads, would take first place in the ranking of the least reliable cars. And what foreign cars are recognized as those that break down most often?

What cars break down the most? Rating of broken cars

If we compare all the materials on this topic from different agencies and insurance companies, then the rating will look something like this.

Compact cars:

  • Fiat Punto and Cinquecento;
  • Skoda Felicia;
  • Renault Clio and Renault Twingo;
  • Seat Ibiza, Seat Cordoba;
  • Suzuki Swift.

The most reliable in this class are VW Polo, Ford Fiesta, Toyota Starlet.

For the "golf class" the situation looks like this:

  • Rover 200er;
  • Fiat Bravo, Fiat Marea;
  • Renault Megane, Renault Scenic;
  • Ford Escort;
  • Peugeot 306.

If you want to buy a used car of this class, then you should look at the recognized most reliable ones: Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Suzuki Baleno.

In the business class, based on the breakdown statistics, the most unreliable are:

  • Renault Laguna;
  • Lemon Xantia;
  • Vauxhall Vectra;
  • Volvo S40 / V40;
  • Peugeot 406 and Ford Mondeo.

But you can pay attention to such cars: Mercedes SLK, BMW Z3, Toyota Avensis.

These statistics were compiled based on the results of requests from German residents to insurance agencies and service companies. But for Russia, it is quite difficult to compile a rating of the most unreliable cars, but if you talk to a simple mechanic from a service station, then it would look something like this:

  • VAZ Priora;
  • VAZ Kalina;
  • VAZ 2114;
  • Chevrolet Lanos?
  • Hyundai Accent;
  • Chevrolet Lacetti;
  • Kia Sportage.

It is clear that the serviceability of a car depends on many factors, among which the ability to properly drive a car and take care of it is one of the decisive ones. It's no secret that you can often see a perfectly serviceable Moskvich M-412 or VAZ 2101 of 78, overtaking some Daewoo Nexia or Kia Rio, falling apart on the go. And all because the owner of the latter does not look after his car at all.
