What auto parts should be changed in the car while they can still be bought

The Ukrainian crisis has already provoked problems with the supply of auto parts to the Russian market. In the near future, the complete disappearance of many of the popular components from domestic auto shops is expected. Portal "AutoVzglyad" tells how you can prepare for this event.

In order to be more or less confident in the normal condition of your car for a decent period of the foreseeable future, when Russian car owners begin to fully feel the consequences of stopping the supply of spare parts to our country, something should be done with the technical part of a personal passenger car right now.

First of all, you should perform a "small maintenance" regardless of the timing of the next scheduled maintenance recommended by the automaker. This means that you need to change the engine oil, air, fuel and oil filters. It is clear that such a decision already suggests itself, but it is not a sin to recall it once again. As, by the way, and about replacing the brake pads.

Less obvious are other necessary work that should be done on the machine in anticipation of a total shortage of spare parts. This applies, for example, to changing the brake fluid and antifreeze in the engine cooling system. After all, it is far from a fact that the latter will continue to be transported to Russia, as before.

Owners of cars with CVTs, especially those whose mileage exceeds 50 km, are highly recommended to call in a specialized service and replace the working fluid in the transmission. Such a procedure with a similar run of the "variator" was highly recommended before to extend its life. And now we can talk about it as mandatory on the eve of huge problems with the supply of spare parts for automobile transmissions to Russia.

Owners of cars with robotic gearboxes, by the way, should also pay attention to the mileage of the car. If the “box” has already covered almost 100 km, you should know that one or another block is about to start to fail. The resource of the node is almost exhausted, and it is better to replace its worn parts preventively, while it is still possible. As for other systems, their current “well-being” should be treated with increased exactingness and, if there is a suspicion of noticeable wear, changed without a twinge of conscience.

The principle of “still looks like it, I’ll replace it later” in the current situation can soon turn a car into real estate. Therefore, it makes sense to carefully inspect the suspension and steering system, take a closer look at the shock absorbers and turbocharger - if the engine is turbocharged. Ideally, of course, also stock up on all sorts of consumables and suspension parts - the same ball bearings and silent blocks. But, unfortunately, there may not be enough money for all this: you can’t put the whole car in parts on the balcony of the apartment.

Yes, and it is not known, again, unfortunately, what will happen to the family budget under sanctions: maybe after a while a motorist, instead of purchasing auto parts, will have to cut out a penny for bread and milk for a child ...
