What parts of a nail puller do not have a handle?
Retractable nail puller jaws
The articulated jaws are sharp, so they can bite into wood, penetrate under the head of a nail, and grab the nail shaft. This means that they must be able to grip nails that are flush with or slightly below the surface.Sometimes the jaws will be spring-loaded to keep them open when you position them. Once they are around the head of the nail, the pivot point is used to clamp the jaws tightly around the shaft of the nail. The jaws are usually fastened with a socket connection. This locking connection, in which one part passes through the other, is known for its strength, although it makes the tool more expensive to manufacture.Nailer strike zone
The impact area at the top of the tool is hit with a hammer so that the jaws of the nail puller tap down and around the head of the nail.hammer position
The hammer claw can then be used at one of the points in the impact area, whichever is most convenient for the job you are doing. The hammer provides the leverage needed to pull the nail out, so the longer the hammer is used, the more leverage.
The lack of an extended handle that works like a built-in hammer means the tool is smaller and lighter, but can still pull out fairly large nails. However, it must be used with a separate hammer.
