What sizes of lead ladles are available?

	Since lead is a heavy metal, it can be difficult and inconvenient to pour accurately, so manufacturers make lead ladles in all shapes and sizes to help with this. Generally, a smaller bowl and spout is useful when filling molds or pouring lead into small holes. The larger bowl and spout are useful for making ingots or for filling large molds.
	Lead ladles are made in a variety of sizes and are measured either by the diameter of the bowl or by its ability to hold molten lead, which is measured in pounds and ounces.
Main lead ladles
	Basic lead ladles are the most common type and are made in two diameters: 100 mm (4 in.) 150 mm (6 in.) They are used to transfer molten lead from a melting pot to a mold, and lead ladles of both sizes are suitable for this job.
Precision Lead Ladles
	Precision lead buckets come in one size: small: 1 oz (28 g). They were originally designed to hold just enough to make a lead bullet or fishing sinker.

	Bottom poured lead ladles are measured by their capacity, which is how many pounds of molten lead each can hold.
	1 lb. (453 g) buckets are suitable for making small items. 2 lb (907 g) buckets are best for large or multiple molds.
Foundry lead ladles
	Depending on the manufacturer, these types of lead buckets are classified by diameter or capacity.
	Diameter 2″, 2½” or 3″ (50mm, 64mm or 76mm) diameter lead ladles are best suited for molds with multiple bullets or fishing weights. Those in 3½", 4" and 4½" diameters (89mm, 100mm and 114mm) are ideal for ingots and larger shapes. The 5″ and 6″ diameters (127mm and 152mm) are better suited for supplying very large volumes of molten lead to the job.
	Throughput Buckets sized for their capacity tend to be larger.
	1lb and 1½lb (453g, 680g) containers are suitable for making small items; 2 lb (907 g) capacity ideal for filling multiple or larger forms; and the 8 lb (3.63 kg) capacity is very large, so will only fit in a very large melting pot. They are great for moving large amounts of molten lead to fill a large cavity.

Lead ladles are specially designed (as is the precision lead ladle) to store very small amounts of molten lead (about 1 ounce or 28 grams).
