What sizes of solid rivets are available?

	Massive rivets are measured by their diameter and length. Below is the size range in which they are available.
	Solid rivets are available in metric and inch sizes. The diameter is not the actual diameter of the rivet, it refers to the diameter of the drill required to create the hole to install the rivet. The actual diameter of the rivet is slightly smaller.
	Diameter sizes available in the metric series include 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 5.5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 14mm. Inch rivet sizes include 1/32, 3/64, 1/16, 5/64, 3/32, 7/64, 1/8, 9/64, 5/32, 3/16, 7/32, 1 /4, 9/32, 5/16, 11/32, 3/8, 7/16 and 1/2″.
	Available metric series lengths for solid rivets: 3, 4, 5, 5.5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20, 22, 24, 25, 26, 28, 30, 32, 35, 40, 45, 50 60mm. Series length in inches includes 1/8, 9/64, 5/32, 3/16, 7/32, 1/4, 9/32, 5/16, 11/32, 3/8, 7/16, 1 /2, 9/32, 19/32, 5/8, 3/4, 13/16, 7/8, 1, 1 1/16, 1 1/8, 1 1/4, 1 3/8, 1 5/8, 1 3/4, 2 and 2 3/8″.
	Capture range The grip range is the thickness range that the rivet can hold. This is always less than the length of the rivet body, since the loss of length caused by the deformation of one end of the rivet must be taken into account.
	Measuring the thickness of the materials you want to join will give you an overall correct grip range so you can determine the length of the rivet you need. For example, if the material you need to join is 10mm thick, you would need a rivet length of 14mm, which gives a gripping range of about 9-11mm.
	The diameter of solid rivets is the measurement needed to get the correct rivet for the size of the drilled hole. For example, if you drilled a hole with a diameter of 5 mm, then the diameter of the rivet should be 4.8 mm.
