What types of gas tanks are used in cars

1.- Metal gas tank 

These types of tanks still have more drag than other tanks, so they can withstand more difficult tests. They also withstand higher temperatures, providing safety in the event of an exhaust system or muffler failure.

Unfortunately, the metal tank is heavier, which means the car has to use more power to propel itself and therefore use more fuel. Metal gas tanks can corrode, they won't absorb fuel, and maintenance is necessary because, being a material that oxidizes, residue can remain inside the tank.

Among metal tanks, you can find a stainless steel tank, and they can even be lighter than plastic ones. 

2.- Plastic fuel tank

In recent years, the plastic gas tank has become more popular in the vehicles that we use on a daily basis and thanks to the material it is made of, it can take on many different shapes as they are very flexible and thus they adapt to any conditions. models and usually mount them on the rear axle.

The plastic fuel tank is also very quiet, making driving less stressful, and to top it all off, it doesn't corrode.

On the other hand, being solid, they are less likely to break due to impact, which will prevent leaks in the tank. This, in turn, allows them to be larger and hold more fuel than metal ones, not to mention being lighter.

However, the fuel tank should not be exposed to the sun, because, like any plastic, it will succumb to heat over time and begin to deform.
