| The cutters on the seats are replaceable. Spare cutters are handy when the old one wears out or when a different size is needed. The drill attachment allows the tap attachment to be used as a power tool. The cutters are durable, depending on the frequency of use, but are cheap and easy to replace if spare parts are available. |

 | All bits are round and screw onto the tip of the reseat shank. There are two main types of cutters for tap installers: chamfer cutters and flat cutters. Flat cutters have a straight top with a serrated head for seat grinding. |
 | The edge of the bevel cutter does not run perpendicular to the baseline; instead, the edge is slanted from the center to the edge of the instrument. The main difference between cutter types is the slope from the center on the beveled cutter. The bevel cutter has the same gear design as the flat cutter.  | A screwdriver or drill bit is simply inserted into any tap handle with bit extension. Sometimes it can be clearly seen at the end of the shaft, and sometimes it is hidden by the handle. |
 | The drill can then be used at low speed to grind down the tap seat. Using a drill really saves your hand; the work can be done fairly (and with more control) by hand. However, more power (or lubrication of the elbow) can be useful for harder extensions. |
