Which projector mount should I choose?

Choosing a projector can be tricky. However, when it is possible to find the ideal model, the question remains where to install it. Find out where to place your projector and what mounts are best!

The choice of how and where to mount the projector is not obvious. It depends on several important things - the type of equipment, its application, size and financial capabilities.

There are quite a few solutions available on the market regarding the location and type of installation of projectors and projectors, including:

  • ceiling holders,
  • wall mounts,
  • mobile shelves,
  • portable stands.

If you are looking for equipment designed to work in your workplace, such as an office, university, conference room, and you rarely need to take the device with you into the field, you can safely choose a ceiling or wall mount.

Typically home use, but without having to move the projector from place to place, also allows fixed brackets, but is often not recommended due to the need for drilling. It is much easier to install a wall shelf, but more often users decide to place the device on a shelf, table or TV cabinet away from the wall.

Instead of taking up space on a countertop or other furniture, consider buying a special wheeled shelf or a portable tripod that can be easily stored with the device in a safe place after use. It is a great convenience and practicality, especially when you often use the projector's mobility, such as during a garden party.

Projector ceiling mount - when is the best?

The ceiling mount is ideal for fixed installations such as workplaces or universities. Such devices rarely change their place, so problems with their inaccessibility do not immediately arise. In addition, mounting the projector to the ceiling saves a lot of space and reduces the risk of running cables or overheating the cabinet.

Ceiling brackets vary considerably from one model to another. They can be compact, designed for small spaces, or quite large with extensions, designed for large spaces. More expensive ones also allow you to change the height, tilt, rotate the projector and hide cables, improving the aesthetics of the design.

Ceiling holders are divided among themselves depending on the type of projector mounting. Then we distinguish:

  • ceiling brackets with mounting brackets - the device is screwed to metal clamps, the design is light and not too conspicuous,
  • ceiling holders with a shelf - a shelf literally hanging from the ceiling, on which you can put or screw the projector,
  • Ceiling brackets with a lift are an excellent solution for high rooms with a stretch ceiling. You can then use the lift handle to lower the projector to a predetermined height, and after use, it will be hidden back into the ceiling, taking care of the visual aspect of the room.

Projector wall mount - compact and easy to use

A wall mount is much easier to mount than a ceiling mount. It is also available in a variety of designs, either as a shelf to hold the device or as metal brackets to which the projector body is screwed.

The choice of a wall-mounted model is, first of all, a significant saving of space, as well as easier and faster installation. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to find a place where the technique will look good and stand at the right distance from the wall or canvas on which the image is to be created. You also need to take care of hanging cables - so it's best to place it close to the power source or use masking tape.

What should I pay attention to when buying a wall mount? First of all, check if the tilt and angle of the projector can be adjusted. The second important feature is the maximum load capacity - usually handles cope with a medium-sized projector. However, it is worth choosing a model with a higher load capacity - then you will be sure that the structure will not fall apart soon after assembly as a whole.

Mobile solution - mobile shelf for projector or tripod

If mobility is important to you and the ability to show movies or photos in different places, even outside the home, a projector shelf is the ideal solution. The small size and the presence of wheels allow you to install it anywhere and change position without any problems. Thanks to this, you can perfectly adjust the distance of the equipment from the wall or board, as well as conveniently and easily transport the whole thing to a safe place after viewing.

The stable tripods are ideal for outdoor use, such as when traveling on business or visiting an open-air cinema. This is due to its small size, lightness and the ability to quickly disassemble. When folded, the stand takes up little space, so it is easy to place during transportation. This decision is also facilitated by the absence of the need to drill - you can not worry about noise, confusion and errors in the distances between holes in the wall. You can take this tripod with you everywhere, and when not in use, just hide it!

Choosing the Perfect Projector Mount - Summary

Buying the right model of projector tripod depends largely on the needs of the owner of the equipment and how it is used. If you travel frequently with all your electronic luggage, a projector tripod or cart is ideal. On the other hand, for business use, in a conference room or lecture hall, a ceiling-mounted model is best suited. Wall racks are an intermediate outlet that makes it easier for us to assemble, but still does not provide mobility.

Regardless of the type of tripod and your requirements, keep in mind a few important parameters - the maximum load capacity (which will be higher than the actual weight of the projector), the presence of a rotating head and tilt adjustment, which will allow the location of the equipment in relation to the image display location.
