Which hair oil to choose? How to use oils

Applying oil to the hair has become a trend in recent years. Hair lovers are constantly discussing the effectiveness of this treatment, and beauty bloggers are eager to test its possibilities. There is usually only one conclusion: hair oil can work wonders, but only if the oil is properly selected for the needs of the hair. In our article, you will learn how to do this and how to use oils correctly.

Oil vs Hair Oil - What's the difference?

The first step on the way to oiling your hair is to decide whether to do it with oils - or oil. Although the former name seems to be a diminutive of the latter, in the world of hair care it refers to a completely different product. butter is one of the natural pressed plant products, and butter it is a mixture of oil (or several) with other ingredients. Oils are formulated in such a way as to enhance the effect of the main oil and add additional nutrients to it. Taking a closer look, for example, at the Matrix Oil Wonders series and their Amazonian Murumuru smoothing oil, we notice that it consists, among other things, of a combination of olive oil with Murumuru palm oil.

How to choose hair oil?

Each oil and each other active ingredient (such as emollients, proteins or moisturizers) is tailored to the specific needs of the hair.

Everything is based on determining the porosity of the strands, which you can do with the help of our article. "How to determine hair porosity? Take the test without leaving home».

We present the most popular oils, divided into groups according to their purpose - by the way, with examples of products that you should definitely pay attention to:

What oil is good for frizzy hair?

  • Coconut oil is one of the 5 fats found in Sesa Moisturizing Oil.
  • Shea Butter – available, for example, in Joanna's Vegan Hair Oil Serum.

What oil for medium porosity hair?

  • Sweet Almond Oil – found, for example, in natural tip serum Nacomi Almond Oil Serum.
  • Argan oil such as Vollare's Pro Oils Intensive Repair smoothing and UV protection.
  • Avocado oil - is one of the 7 oils in Vollare Pro Oils Perfect Curls.

What oil for porous hair?

  • evening primrose oil – Available, for example, in Anwen High Pore Hair Oil.
  • Chia seed oil like Natural World Chia Seed Oil, which strengthens and adds volume to hair.
  • Black cumin oil - for example, regenerating and polishing black cumin oil from Bioelixire.

Therefore, in theory, low porosity hair needs saturated oils, medium porosity hair needs monounsaturated oils, and high porosity hair needs polyunsaturated oils. However, keep in mind that this is a general rule. Your hair may react very well to an oil that is theoretically not intended for them. If so, don't give up!

How to properly oil your hair?

Choosing the right product is half the battle, of course, it is equally important to carry out the procedure correctly. There are two options: dry or wet. Both methods are good and when choosing a favorite, it does not matter what type of hair you have - the main thing is convenience and skill.

Dry oiling consists in applying a small amount of oil (usually one pump or pipette rubbed in your hands is enough) directly to the hair and distributing the cosmetic product along its entire length or applying only to the tips.

In the wet version, you have several options. You can apply the oil in the same way as dry, only on washed and damp hair, or mix 1 tablespoon of oil with water or your favorite hydrosol in a spray bottle and spray this mixture on your hair. Another way is to prepare the mixture in a bowl and dip your hair into it to the desired length. Each method is equally effective!

Now you know, how to choose hair oil and how to apply it. How often do you do it? The frequency, of course, will depend on the needs of your hair and how often you wash it. To get started, try doing this treatment 1-2 times a week and change your methods or makeup as needed.

Applying oil to your hair is very simple and does not require much effort. Definitely worth trying this natural form of hair care. Choose the right oil for your needs and start testing! For more beauty tips, see I care about my beauty.
