What is the real range of the Audi e-tron on the highway at 200 km / h? Test: 173-175 km [VIDEO] • CARS

The German decided to test the real range of the Audi e-tron when driving at a speed of 200 km / h. The experiment was successful, but the car ended up on a tow truck - it turned out that the "energy reserve" in the battery was used only to exit the road and could not be activated remotely .

The experiment was carried out on the German Autobahn with no speed limit. Charged to 100 percent of the capacity of car batteries, it showed a range of 367 kilometers, but this forecast, of course, applies to calm, normal driving.

The vehicle has been switched to Dynamic driving mode. After 40 kilometers of travel, part of which was a motorway exit, the average energy consumption of a vehicle was 55 kWh / 100 km. This means that with a usable battery capacity of 83,6 kWh (total: 95 kWh) The range of the Audi e-tron at 200 km / h should be just over 150 kilometers. - that is, the driver has about 110 km of power reserve left (at the rate of 150 minus 40 of the distance traveled). The counter at that time showed 189-188 km:

It is worth paying attention to the hint showing the power requirements: driving at a speed of 200 km / h requires up to 50 percent of the resources. Thus, if the car offers up to 265 kW (360 hp), then 200 kW (132,5 hp) is required to maintain a speed of 180 km / h.

After 35 minutes of driving, the driver covered over 84 kilometers with an average speed of 142 km / h and a consumption of 48,9 kWh / 100 km. The projected car was 115 km, although from the energy consumption it can be calculated that the energy reserve should be enough for only 87 km. This is an interesting revaluation as it suggests that The Audi e-tron predicts a range based on a total battery capacity of 95 kWh.:

After traveling approximately 148 kilometers (14 percent battery capacity) at an average speed of 138 km / h, the vehicle displayed a low battery warning. Turtle mode is activated after 160,7 km with 3% battery capacity and 7 km of remaining range (average consumption: 47,8 kWh / 100 km). At 163 kilometers the driver left the track. According to the calculated average, it has currently consumed less than 77 kWh of energy:

The Audi e-tron comes to a complete stop after 175,2 km. At this distance, it consumed an average of 45,8 kWh / 100 km, which means that the car consumed only 80,2 kWh of energy. The maximum speed was maintained for 1 hour 19 minutes. It was not far from the charging station, but unfortunately ...

The driver decided to call Audi so that the technical service could remotely activate the reserve capacity of the battery. Half an hour later, it turned out that this was not possible and that the "reserve" was probably used only to exit the road, and not to continue driving - and that it could only be activated via the OBD connector.

A few hours later, already in the trailer, the car drove to the charging station at the Audi showroom (photo above).
