What is the Renault Zoé model range?

The new Renault Zoé was sold in 2019 in an upgraded version with a new R135 engine. The french's favorite electric city car is sold from 32 euros with a full purchase of Zoé Life and up to 500 euros for the Intens version.

These new features are also accompanied by a more powerful battery, which gives the new Renault Zoé more autonomy.

Renault Zoé battery

Zoe Battery Features

Battery Renault Zoé offers Power 52 kWh and range 395 km in WLTP cycle... In 8 years, the capacity of Zoé batteries has more than doubled, from 23,3 kWh to 41 kWh and then 52 kWh. autonomy has also been revised upward: from 150 actual km in 2012 to 395 km today on the WLTP cycle.

The Zoe battery consists of cells connected to each other and controlled by a BMS (Battery Management System). The technology used is lithium-ion, which is the most common in the electric vehicle market, but the common name for a Zoe battery is Li-NMC (lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt).

In terms of the battery purchasing solutions offered by Renault, a full purchase with the included battery has only been possible since 2018. In addition, since September 2020, the diamond brand is also offering motorists who have purchased their Zoe with battery rental for buyback. their battery is from DIAC.

Finally, in early 2021, Renault announced that its electric vehicles, including the Zoe, would no longer be offered with battery rentals. So, if you want to buy Renault Zoé, you can only buy it completely with the included battery (excluding LLD offers).

Charging the Zoe Battery

You can easily charge your Renault Zoé at home, in the workplace, and at public charging stations (in the city, in major brand car parks or on the motorway network).

With the Type 2 plug, you can charge the Zoe at home by installing a Reinforced Green'up or Wallbox plug. With the 7,4 kW Wallbox, you can recover over 300 km of battery life in 8 hours.

You also have the option to recharge the Zoé outdoors: you can use ChargeMap to find public charging stations that can be found on the road, in shopping malls, in supermarket or department store car parks like Ikea or Auchan, or in some Renault vehicles. dealerships (more than 400 sites in France). With these 22 kW public terminals, you can restore 100% autonomy in 3 hours.

There are also many charging networks on the motorways to make it easier for motorists to make long journeys. If you choose fast charging, you can restore up to 150 km of autonomy in 30 minutes... However, be careful not to use fast charging too often, as this can damage your Renault Zoe's battery faster.

Renault Zoé autonomy

Factors affecting the autonomy of the Renault Zoé

If the Zoe's range is 395 km from Renault, this does not reflect the vehicle's actual range. Indeed, when it comes to the autonomy of an electric vehicle, there are many parameters to consider: speed, driving style, altitude difference, type of trip (city or highway), storage conditions, fast charging frequency, outside temperature, etc.

As such, Renault offers a range simulator that evaluates the Zoe's range based on several factors: travel speed (from 50 to 130 km / h), Weather (-15 ° C to 25 ° C), regardless of heating и air conditioner, and no matter ECO mode.

For example, the simulation estimates a range of 452 km at 50 km / h, weather at 20 ° C, heating and air conditioning off, and ECO active.

Weather conditions play a very important role in the electric vehicle's range, as Renault estimates the Zoe's range is reduced to 250 km in winter.

Aging Zoe Battery

As with all electric vehicles, the Renault Zoe's battery wears out over time, and as a result, the car becomes less efficient and has a shorter range.

This degradation is called aging ", And the above factors contribute to the aging of the Zoe battery. Indeed, the battery is discharged when using the vehicle: it is cyclic aging... The battery also deteriorates when the vehicle is at rest, this calendar aging... To learn more about the aging of traction batteries, we invite you to read our dedicated article.

According to a study by Geotab, electric vehicles lose an average of 2,3% of mileage and power per year. Thanks to the numerous battery analyzes we conducted at La Belle Batterie, we can say that the Renault Zoé loses an average of 1,9% SoH (State of Health) per year. As a result, the Zoe battery wears out more slowly than average, making it a reliable and durable vehicle.

Check the battery of your Renault Zoé

If simulators like the one Renault offers allow you to assess the autonomy of your Zoe, this prevents you from really knowing your autonomy and especially the real state of your battery.

Indeed, it is important to know the health status of your electric vehicleespecially if you plan on reselling it on the secondary market.

Thus, La Belle Batterie offers a reliable and independent battery certificate that allows you to have information on the condition of the battery and thus facilitate the resale of your used vehicle.

To get certified, all you have to do is order our kit and download the La Belle Batterie app. After that, you can easily and quickly diagnose the battery without leaving your home, in just 5 minutes.

In a few days you will receive a certificate including:

- SOH your Zoey : health status as a percentage

- BMS reprogramming quantity et date of last reprogramming

- A estimating the range of your vehicle : depending on battery wear, weather and type of trip (urban, highway and mixed).

Our battery certificate is currently compatible with the Zoe 22 kWh and 41 kWh. We are currently working on a 52 kWh version, stay tuned for availability.
