California wants to ban gas powered lawn mowers and blowers. Then me too, please

Probably every resident of a big city has experienced this: a beautiful summer morning, and suddenly the sound of an internal combustion lawn mower engine begins to penetrate the brain. The air smells of exhaust fumes mixed with the smell of freshly cut grass. California is starting to see this as a problem.

Gasoline lawn mowers and blowers are worse than cars

It is no coincidence that California (USA) is struggling with exhaust fumes and promoting zero-emission vehicles. Cities in the state are plagued by smog, and throughout the region there are drought and fire problems due to the Earth's warming climate.

That's why government officials are considering banning lawn mowers and gas blowers. The two-stroke engines they use are not subject to the same stringent emission standards as internal combustion vehicles - what is created in the cylinders goes straight into the atmosphere. As a result one hour of mower operation corresponds to vehicle emissionswhich covered a distance of about 480 kilometers (source).

The blowers are even worse: they throw as much as the aforementioned Toyota at a distance of almost 1 kilometer (source)!

Several cities in the state have already banned gas powered lawn mowers and blowers. Others restrict their use to specific hours. California is only studying this subject. Meanwhile, the California Clean Air Commission (CARB) estimates that small off-road devices with combustion engines will contribute more to smog than cars by 2021:

Not everyone enjoys the controversy over removing gasoline lawn mowers and blowers. The same devices in electrical versions are usually more expensive. and worse, they offer lower performance. The batteries provide a runtime of 20 to 60 minutes, so you will need to replace them with fresh, charged packs to keep working. This increases the cost of all equipment.
