Eyeliner - how to use an eyeliner? Makeup inspiration

Using eyeliner in makeup is the best way to emphasize the shape of the eyelid and the color of the iris. Learn how to use the pencil to make your eyes look bigger and learn about the latest makeup trends using it. We also advise what to avoid for each eyelid type.

To deepen your eye makeup, you can use many different cosmetic products: eyeshadow, eyeliner, and eyeliners. The latter are available in many variants - basic black, as well as brown, colored or glitter. The eyeliner offers many possibilities to emphasize the shape of the eye, not just the iris. Its skillful use can completely change the appearance of the face.

Eyeliner - how to use it?

How eyeliner is used depends largely on its format and consistency. There are two types of cosmetics of this type on the market:

  • hard chalk - usually very thin; mainly used to draw lines on the eyelid to emphasize the shape of the eye. Hard chalk is quite difficult to rub. By using very sharp, you can get an effect similar to eyeliner, albeit a bit more natural because it's less precise.

  • soft chalk - used as a substitute for eye shadow or in combination with them. It is usually much thicker than hard crayons, although there are also thin options for drawing fine lines, which are then rubbed with a sponge. Graphite is very soft and spreads easily with light pressure and skin warmth. Eyeshadow Pencil can be used with loose eyeshadow for a more dramatic effect. Wet or cream cosmetics are often set with dry formulas - rubbing a pencil into the shadow will not only enhance the effect, but also fix the makeup.

Kajal for the eyes - an oriental way for a smooth look

Kajal, or kol, is an Arabic cosmetic that is an alternative to eyeliner. This is an excellent choice for those who care not only for the visual effect, but also for the care effect. Kajal not only does not weigh down the skin as much as eyeliners and pencils, but also has a beneficial effect on them, moisturizing the eyelids. This is a long-wearing, velvety eyeliner that doesn't flake, dry or clump.

If you want to get the effect of a precisely drawn and more precise line, it is worth applying kajal with a precise brush - then the cosmetic product will act like lipstick or mascara.

Black eyeliner instead of eyeliner - how to use it?

Using a hard black pencil can give an effect similar to that achieved with eyeliner. Many women prefer colored pencils to liquid eyeliners or felt-tip pens because they guarantee a more natural effect without the need to accurately draw the shape.

You can apply a solid black pencil on the upper eyelid, using a thin line or a thicker line, depending on your preference. You can start the line from the inner edge of the iris or draw it through the entire eyelid, which will visually enlarge the eyes.

The use of chalk at the waterline of the eye is a well-known trend that is gaining popularity again. It guarantees a very expressive effect, which is most suitable for evening make-up categories. It is also worth remembering that this practice visually reduces the eyes, so it is not suitable for everyone. If you choose a white pencil, then you can count on an optical increase in the eye.

Eyeliner - what color to choose?

Eyeliner can also be selected in accordance with the shade of the iris.

  • blue eyes - brown, black, blue,

  • green eyes - purple or brown,

  • brown eyes - graphite, gray, turquoise, green,

  • dark brown eyes - all colors will be contrasting.

Contrary to appearance, colored eyeliners are ideal not only for special occasions, but also for everyday use. Especially in summer, you should go crazy about this - against the background of tanned skin, blues and turquoise or gold look amazing. Also now, when we wear masks every day, it is worth focusing on the eyes, since only they are actually visible.

If your lower lid line tempts you, consider wearing blue or turquoise eyeliner—Princess Diana's calling card and today's makeup trend. "Queen of human hearts" thus emphasized the blue color of the iris. Blue eyes look beautiful in combination with blue, as well as with gray and pure black. Blue is equally good in combination with brown eyes. The brown color of irises is combined with turquoise and graphite. The green color of the iris is best emphasized by magenta.

White or flesh colored crayons are ideal for use on the water line. Why is such a procedure needed? First, the optical magnification of the eyes. A skillfully drawn white line inside the lower eyelid is the easiest way to make the look expressive. However, do not forget to emphasize the lower lashes with mascara to achieve the desired effect.

Eye pencils will allow you to create both light daytime and evening makeup. It is worth investing in at least a few products that will work well every day as well as for special occasions.
