The new Kia Cee'd GT Line with a small turbocharged 1.0 petrol engine is low on power and boasts top-notch trim and equipment, making it one of the busiest market segments. It could be a little more appealing in sporty driving.

The C segment, the compact sedan segment, is full of contenders vying for market share. We are there Volkswagen Golf, Ford Focus, New Opel Astra, or Peugeot 308 и Reno Megan, let alone Premium like Mercedes class A e Audi A3... All of them are equipped with efficient engines, attractive equipment and materials that are beautiful to touch and look.

New Kia Cee'd stands out in this group in a clearly seductive way. His the line is aggressive and very personal, especially in this version GTLine equipped with a 120 hp, XNUMX hp turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, “in step with the times”, and rich equipment.

The list is really greedy: 17-inch alloy wheels, dual exhaust with chrome details, aluminum pedals, tinted rear windows, rear spoiler, special seats and now the inevitable front and rear LED lighting.

La Cee'dHowever, this is not what it seems. The sporty aesthetic comes from the slightly straight-forward and not-so-communicative steering (although it certainly would have improved with other tires) and the soft shock mounts.

However, the ride is pleasant: the controls have the right weight, and the interior is well soundproofed. The manual transmission has a nice texture (reminiscent of a Golf) and the engine is round and progressive for a three-cylinder. The space on board is good, even if it doesn't stand out, but still surpasses some of its rivals. Consumption is also good: 18 km / l can be achieved "in real life."

city

431 cm long and 178 cm wide, the Kia Cee'd is certainly not the queen of city cars, but also not an oil tanker. IN engine The 1.0 turbo is a good ally in the city: it has a good shot, it is silent - on the "troika" - and quite elastic. Lightweight controls make driving less fatiguing, and front visibility is good, which can't be said for the rear. The rear window is really too small, and without sensors and a rear-view camera - standard on this version - it would be really difficult not to hit something when maneuvering.

In the end I would break the spear for consumption: 6,2 l / 100 km - an excellent result for a 1.0 turbo, especially if it is installed on the C segment.

Outside the city

La Kia Cee'd, in version GTLine, trains a few more muscles, but it's all about appearance. Under the sporty lines, in fact, the Korean shows the soul of a quiet family sedan. The steering has three different power boost modes: Comfort, Normal and Sport... In fact, only the resistance changes, and in each mode it is always too light and "pain relieving". That's okay for quiet driving, but when you feel like pulling a little, the steering doesn't give you enough confidence. However, we know how good tires will make a difference (the thermals that our car is equipped with are not really suitable), so we postpone the final decision. IN shock absorbers they do a great job with bumps and bumps: it seems like the Cee'd is flying on a cushion of air, but when cornering, it turns into a noticeable roll.

Il engine it develops 120 hp. and 170 Nm of torque - enough power to easily move the car. Cee'd accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 11,1 seconds and reaches 190 km / h, and on country roads it overcomes 100 km on 4,2 liters of fuel.

шосе

La Kia Cee'd he drives for kilometers indifferently, silently and effortlessly. Soundproofing has been taken care of, and cruise control with a speed limiter, even if we now take it for granted, is always a pleasure. The seat is comfortable and slightly raised, and the graphics are simple and straightforward.

The location of the buttons on the dashboard is well thought out, especially the buttons for the infotainment system. All of them are easily accessible and intuitive, much better than many Germans who boast of "rational" management.

The small 1.0 turbo, unfortunately, suffers a little on the highway, despite the sixth gear, and the consumption increases accordingly.

Kia Ceed 1.0 T-GDI GT LINE, our test - Road Test“The real highlight of the GT Line version is the equipment, there is almost nothing that is not included in the package”

Life on board

Until a few years ago, we could say thatcockpit was of good quality for a Korean. It wouldn't make sense now. Koreans are strong, and their quality is not inferior to Europeans, and in some cases even better.

The materials are pleasant to the touch even in the case of hard plastics. It is enough to look at the doors and the appearance of the buttons to understand how carefully Cee'd was built. Digital equipment with analog fuel and temperature indicators is also good.

The space on board is also suitable for tall people. IN trunk di 380 liters it is above the segment average, but there are those who are better.

The real highlight of the version GTLine there is equipment, almost nothing that is not included: Smart Key with start button, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, headlight range control, electric and heated rearview mirrors, dual-zone climate, digital radio DAB, trip computer and rear parking sensors.

Don't miss out on the standard sat nav (with 7 years of map updates), rear camera, 4,3-inch touchscreen, and the inevitable Aux / USB / DVD jacks.

Our machine is also equipped with Techno Pak (optional for 2.500 euros) which adds rear vents, Xenon headlights with headlight washers, electric handbrake, electrochromic interior mirror, 10-way power driver's seat with memory, rain sensor and panoramic roof. A greedy package that doesn't add anything significant, but adds extra luxury.

Price and costs

List Price Kia Cee'd 1.0 T-GDI 5p 120 HP is 22.750 1.500 euros, which is 110 euros less than the equivalent diesel version with an output of XNUMX hp, which will certainly be the favorite in our market. Regardless of the engine, Cee'd consumes little and, unlike many competitors, is fully equipped with any accessories, which makes it almost impossible to raise the price with additional options.
