The Chinese overtook the BMW X8

Chinese JAC Motors will soon show another crossover. The car will have three versions of the interior, and the engine was taken from his older "brother", but with increased power.

The Jiayue lineup (pronounced “Jayue”) appeared in 2019, and the company refers it to the so-called “era 3.0”. So the Chinese have designated their new models. Today, the A5 liftback, X7 and X4 crossovers (reconstructed by the JAC Refine S7 and Refine S4) are produced under this brand, and sales of the latter began in the country only a week ago.

The Jiayue flagship crossover will debut soon. This is again a visual copy of one of the models of the BMW concern. This time it's the X8 (although the German company is still preparing the debut of its X8). There is a high probability that the novelty will be based on the X7 version, but with different design elements: daytime running lights are made wider, bumpers, grille, hood and tailgate are changed. The rear optics has also undergone some changes.

Thanks to the public relations service, some parameters of X8 became known:

  • Length - 4795 mm;
  • Width - 1870 mm;
  • Height - mm 1758;
  • Wheelbase - 2810 mm.

Compared to the new product, the previous model (X7) is shorter by 19 mm, and the center distance is 2750 mm. Interestingly, the previous model surpasses the X8 in width and height (the width of the Jiayue X7 is 1900 mm and the height is 1760 mm).

The manufacturer has not yet shown the interior of the new model, but the X8 will be available in configurations with 6 and 7 seats. However, local automotive media claim that it will be a 5-seater option. The X8 will be equipped with a panoramic roof and 360-degree cameras.

The engine is taken from the X7 - a 4-liter HFC1.6GC1,5E turbocharged gasoline unit, but in a crossover with three rows of seats, its power was increased from 174 to 184 hp. The Jiayue X7 is available with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed dual-clutch robotic transmission - these are likely to carry over to the upcoming flagship as well.

All versions of the Jiayue X7 are only front-wheel drive, the X8 is also unlikely to have 4WD. The model will debut in a few days when its prices become known. Jiayue X7 costs from 12 to 800 dollars.
