The classic Morgan could be back

Morgan Cars Australia is looking forward to bringing the classic back to Australia.

The car, whose design dates back to the 1930s, was withdrawn from sale in 2006 due to airbag supply issues and subsequent homologation issues.

However, it is set for a new round of crash testing in the UK later this month. If it passes, it will be back on sale within a few months because the test is equivalent to local Australian design rule 69 for a full frontal crash test.

“I have orders in the system,” says Chris van Wyck, managing director of Morgan Cars Australia. He expects the car to be cheaper due to a better exchange rate and lower fares.

“The currency situation means we will be able to offer 4/4 for about $80,000, Plus 4 for $100,000, and V6 for about $126,000,” he says.

The cars were previously priced at $97,000, $117,000, and $145,000.
