Gift book from Santa for children 6-8 years old

The youngest children eagerly read books and ask their parents to read them. Unfortunately, this often changes with the beginning of schooling, when books appear on the horizon that must be read without affecting the subject. Therefore, one should be especially careful when choosing book gifts for children of primary school age, paying attention to interesting stories and topics that interest readers aged 6 to 8 years.

This time, Santa has a slightly more difficult task, although, fortunately, some topics are universal and the books in which they occur will appeal to almost everyone.

Animal books

This certainly applies to animals. However, what is changing is that they are usually less fabulous and more real. They are often found in non-fiction books, although, of course, they are also found in short stories and novels.

  • What are animals building?

I love everything that comes from the talented hands of Emilia Dzyubak. Her illustrations for books by the best Polish and foreign authors of children's literature, such as Anna Onychimovska, Barbara Kosmowska or Martin Widmark, are true works of art. But the artist does not stop at collaboration with writers. He also creates original books in which he is responsible for both text and graphics. “A year in the forest","Unusual friendship in the world of plants and animals", and now "What are animals building?”(published by Nasza Księgarnia) is an extraordinary journey into the natural world, but also a feast for the eyes.

In the latest book by Emilia Dzyubak, the little reader will find dozens of fascinating buildings created by different species. He learns how bird's nests, houses of bees, ants and termites are formed. He will see them in juicy illustrations that dominate the text, accurately depicting entire buildings and roughly selected elements. Hours of reading and watching guaranteed!

  • Tales of cats that ruled the world

Cats are considered creatures with character, individualists, going their own way. Perhaps that is why they have fascinated people for centuries, were the object of worship and various beliefs. They also appear quite often in the books. This time, Kimberline Hamilton has chosen to present profiles of thirty four-legged animals that have gone down in history - a cat in space, a cat in the navy - this is just a foretaste of what awaits readers. Of course, there were superstitions associated with cats, because you need to know that there are other superstitions, in addition to the one that we all know, that if a black cat crosses our path, misfortune awaits us. Each described heroic cat was also depicted so that we would not miss his image. Cat lovers will love it!

  • Tales of the dogs that saved the world

Dogs evoke slightly different emotions and associations than cats. Perceived as friendly, helpful, courageous, even heroic, they are increasingly appearing on the pages of books. Barbara Gavrilyuk writes about them beautifully in her series “Dog for a medal“(Posted by Zielona Sowa), but in an interesting and even wider context, she showed the unique dogs of Kimberline Hamilton in the book”Tales of the dogs that saved the world(Publishing house "Znak"). It tells about more than thirty quadrupeds, whose achievements and exploits deserve publicity. An aviator dog, a rescue dog, a pet guardian dog and many others, each is depicted in a separate illustration.

  • Boar Boar

Visitors to the Kabacka Forest in Warsaw and other forests across Poland will now look more closely for wild animals and… trolls. And this is thanks to Krzysztof Lapiński, author of the book “Boar Boar“(Publisher Agora) who just joined”Lolka"Adam Vajrak"Ambarasa“Tomasz Samoilik and”Wojtek"Wojciech Mikolushko. Under the guise of a fascinating story about the life and relationships of forest creatures, the author presents the problems of our time, first of all, dissolving false information, once called gossip, and now fake news. Young readers - not only great animal lovers - get an interesting book that encourages reflection and often checks on their own behavior, and at the same time written lightly and with humor and beautifully illustrated by Marta Kurchevskaya.

  • The pug who wanted to be a reindeer

Book "The pug who wanted to be a reindeer”(Posted by Wilga) Not only is it about animals, or actually about Peggy the pug, but it also has a festive vibe. In fact, it is the Christmas mood that the heroes of this story lack and it is the dog who decides to do something to restore it. And since a dog is a man's best friend, there's a chance it will work.

The third installment in the Bella Swift series is a great suggestion for kids just getting started on their independent reading adventure. Not only does the author tell an interesting, fun, and engaging story broken down into small chapters, and the illustrators create illustrations that add variety to the reading, the publisher also decided to make it easier to read, using large print and clear text layout. And everything ends well!

Bacteria, viruses and fungi

  • Monstrous microbes, all about beneficial bacteria and vile viruses

During a raging pandemic, words like "bacteria" and "viruses" keep scrolling. We say them dozens of times a day without even realizing it. But children hear them and often experience fear. This can change thanks to the book “Monstrous microbes”Mark van Ranst and Gert Buckert (publisher of BIS) because the unknown fills us with the greatest fear. The authors answer many of the little ones' questions about bacteria and viruses, how they spread, function, and cause disease. Also, readers are waiting for tests, thanks to which they will feel like real microbiologists.

  • Fungarium. mushroom museum

Until recently, I thought that books “animals"AND"Botanicum(Publishers Two Sisters), masterfully illustrated by Cathy Scott, who seeks inspiration for her work in the engravings of the XNUMXth century German naturalist Ernst Haeckel, will not be continued. And here's the surprise! They have just been joined by another volume entitled “Fungarum. mushroom museumEsther Guy. It is a feast for the eyes and a great dose of knowledge presented in an interesting and accessible way. The young reader will not only learn what mushrooms are, but also learn about their diversity and get information about where they can be found and what they can be used for. A great gift for young scientists interested in nature!

Occasionally

Not all children's books need to be about animals or other living organisms. For those children who do not yet have specific interests, or who are reluctant to read books, it is worth suggesting interesting, graphically appealing titles, in the hope that they will be involved in reading.

  • Gastronomy

Alexandra Voldanskaya-Plochinskaya is one of my favorite illustrators and picture book writers of the younger generation. To her "zoocracy"Won the title of the best children's book "Pshechinek and Kropka" 2018",garbage garden"Conquered the hearts of readers and the last"Gastronomy”(publisher of Papilon) can have a real impact on the eating and shopping habits of today's children and entire families. Knowledge presented accompanied by full-page, dynamic and colorful illustrations is absorbed much faster and remains in memory longer, and most importantly, it is better preserved. Such books are very desirable to read, so they can be used as an incentive to read for those who resist.

  • Doctor Esperanto and the Language of Hope

Every child at school learns a foreign language. It is almost always English, which allows you to communicate almost anywhere in the world. In the XNUMXth century, Ludwik Zamenhof, who lived in Bialystok, dreamed of communicating, regardless of his religion and language. Despite the fact that many languages were spoken there, few good words were said. The boy was very upset by the hostility of some residents to others and concluded that hostility arose due to mutual misunderstanding. Even then, he began to create his own language in order to reconcile everyone and facilitate communication. Years later, the Esperanto language was created, which gained many enthusiasts around the world. This amazing story can be found in the book “Doctor Esperanto and the Language of Hope”Mary Rockliff (Mamania Publishing House), beautiful illustrations by Zoya Dzerzhavskaya.

  • Dobre Miastko, the best cake in the world

Justina Bednarek, authors of the bookDobre Miastko, the best cake in the world(Ed. Zielona Sowa) probably needs no introduction. Favorite by readers, noted by the jury, incl. for the book"The Amazing Adventures of Ten Socks(Publishing house "Poradnya K"), starts another series, this time for children 6-8 years old. The heroes of the last book are the Wisniewski family, who have just moved into an apartment building in Dobry Miastko. Their adventures, participation in the competition announced by the mayor, and the establishment of good neighborly relations were beautifully illustrated by Agata Dobkovskaya.

Santa is already packing the gifts and goes to deliver them at the right time. So let's quickly think about what books should be in a bag with your child's name. About animals, nature, or maybe warm stories with beautiful illustrations? There are plenty to choose from!

And about offers for young children, you can read in the text “Order gifts from Santa for children 3-5 years old”
